Extremely low quality. Use a hanger instead.

This is absolute crap. Two of them broke immediately. I mean NOW. They're made of maliciously shoddy plastic. I handled them very carefully based on other reviews and they both broke immediately anyway. You are a bad joke. Based on this experience, I will avoid Dorman products entirely.

I hope it works better than Nissan OEM

I hope it works better than Nissan OEM. This is my wife's old car that was given to the kids when they got their driver's license. This is the 4th dipstick on this machine. The first 3 were all Nissan OEMs costing around $20-$25. This one was cheaper and said what the hell. Suitable as an OEM. If yours breaks, instead of paying a mechanic or removing the oil pan, remove the hose from the valve cover and use an air compressor to force air into the valve cover to "shoot" the dipstick out of the…

Temporary cheap part

I only recommend this as a temporary solution until you get one from Nissan. It's not very good either, but still better than this. Also, my personal recommendation for fixing this is to take one of the plastic pieces, cut about 1.5 inches off the dipstick tube and have a machine shop roll the end into a hook and loop and attach a metal cap with an internal rubber gasket. It takes a machine shop and a welder and you'll never need a feeler gauge made for this car again because the metal cover…

Bad buy ;) in Spare parts

Note that good ratings are more likely to come from people who haven't used the oil dipstick for a very long time. I was happy with mine when I first received it. Mine broke after almost a year. Surprised how little force it took to break it. Luckily it was far enough away from the tube that the end of the probe didn't fall into it. I had no choice but to tape off the top of the dipstick like a ghetto and try to plug the hole until I got a replacement. All. Sites on the internet seem to be…

Very fragile: spare parts

This is a cheap dipstick, but it's better to get a more durable one, even if it costs a little more. This plastic material on the probe handle is very poorly constructed and will start to crack after at least a month of use. I don't really understand how a cheap plastic grip can even stand up to the heat of the engine, it really does seem so unstable. I bought two of these, the first time the grip actually broke/melted and the stick was still stuck in the motor tube it cost me $100 to have a…

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from the testers

  • boring packaging

Not worth the money

When I received this probe it seemed so flimsy I was afraid of breaking it when I took it out of the box. The second thing I noticed was that it was bent. I had to straighten it out as best I could. I put it in the car and it fit perfectly. My driveway is on a slope so as soon as I was level I went to check the oil. The probe broke the first time it was used! I am absolutely amazed that Dorman is selling this product. Plugging in the dipstick tube can be great, but if you really want to check…

This is a true replacement probe, but it fits the tube a little tightly.

Like most people, my Nissan Sentra XE 1800cc oil dipstick broke off. This part has the same button as the original and is not one of those that mark the oil level on the dipstick after changing the type of oil. To eliminate the fear that it will break as soon as you put it in the dipstick tube, there are a few things you need to do. Wipe some oil off the tip once you insert it into the tube and find that it doesn't quite fit onto the black o-ring. I know this next part will break all mechanics,
