I was able to use this to cut off a stuck metal screen lock nut!

I had to replace my kitchen strainer but the lock nut got stuck which is a very common problem. I had never cut metal with a Dremel before so settled on a 420 wheel. Sparks flew and yes I was able to cut successfully, it only took 1 wheel that wasn't worn out either for me to keep using it. I have a piece of advice: be patient and let the tool do its job, you don't have to press hard on the metal for the blade to cut through.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Expensive

Great for small jobs

I used it to cut various steel parts - PC card brackets and some long screws. With them, the bolts are cut very quickly. The trick is not to push too hard - let the speed do the cutting for you and it will get the job done faster because you don't have to keep changing blades. I was able to get a job or two per wheel fairly regularly, and it seemed good value for money as each wheel was about a quarter apiece. I am very happy with them and will use them again and again if the need arises.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Slightly better than the standard Dremel cutting wheel (just a bit)

They're a little 'harder' than the standard reddish Dremel cutting-off wheels I'm aware of, but not by much. I've never had trouble loading stock wheels onto a mandrel, but it takes a little more "love" to load them. The hole is too small, but once I sharpened it a bit with the tip of a utility knife, the spiked screw went through with no problem. Overall I would say they are decent. I would have preferred the EZ Lock EZ406-02 tool (this is a great product in my experience) but in a pinch it…

Pros
  • Alright!
Cons
  • High Price

Works well but still prefer 409

My standard is Dremel 409 cut-off wheels which are .025" thick so they tend to be brittle and break. So I tried 420 .040 inch thick. and significantly thicker. Although the kerf is stronger, it is thicker and because it is an abrasive cut, much more debris remains from the cut and the heat generated is higher. I mostly cut metal with it and eventually went back to the thinner 409. I also felt that the thinner 409 cut faster. Buying 409 in bulk will more than make up for the occasional breakage,

Parts and accessories for power rotary tools have helped me a lot

My snow thrower had a rusted pin that would not move using multiple methods. The space he was in was very limited. Luckily I remembered my Dremel, but the wheel I had was useless (409). In fact, I've never found a good use for the 409 wheel. So I bought that. I was concerned they would be brittle and I might have to use a lot of them. Due to the amount you get per order, I received these instead of the ones with the EZ lock. I was also skeptical about the EZ lock based on some reviews. Well it…

Good cutting disc with a touch of false advertising.

Customer note: The product shown is NOT a Dremel 420 Heavy Duty cutting wheel. The picture shows a heavy duty Dremel cutting wheel. Genuine Dremel 420 high performance cutting discs are similar in appearance to the Dremel 409 cutting discs listed on Revain. I used a Dremel 420 Heavy Duty cutting wheel to precisely cut 1/4" thick aluminum square tubing. Every 1 inch or so of the circle is reduced to about half the original size. While this may be frustrating for some, I prefer the drive to get…

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
