It's smooth and worked great!

I actually bought this hinge mechanism as a cheap solution to an HD overhead projector falling off. I attached the hinges to the projector platform I built and installed the whole thing between the ceiling joists. If I don't want to watch movies on the big screen, everything goes to the ceiling. It's smooth and worked great!

It works, but if you're looking for a similar product, take the time and consider making your own coffee table.

Here's the deal. This thing is very Chinese, but it works as long as you're comfortable enough to customize it to suit your needs. Problems I encountered: 1. Two hinges did not retract to their original position at the same point. So the way it was installed was slightly different on each side.2. the locking mechanism is terrible. Happy with the hinges!: Brackets

Overall I'm happy with the elevators. It was a little tricky to install (at least for me, since I'm handy) and there are no installation instructions. It took me about 30 minutes to figure out what I needed and how to install it. I use them on a quilt chest that I use as a coffee table.
