Worked in humid environment for almost 5 weeks during voyage. There are no fish sacrifices. Hikari Mini Granules do not cake. The granules appeared dry and still fresh on examination. Therefore, the built-in active ventilation works quite efficiently. This product works great once set up. Be sure to read the instructions for correct programming. I have a wooden light/lid on my 55 gallon tank and I just drilled a 1 1/4" diameter hole along one side of the lights and air hoses. Very easy to program and set up, but a bit difficult to maintain. There's really no way to measure how much food your fish are getting unless you do "test runs". You must adjust the opening of the feeder until the exact amount you want is dispensed. Also, the amount depends on how full the food container is.
