I have kept my elderly Siamese (hairy) cat and two Shiba Inu dogs out of the living room because they have lost so much fur and my dogs have snuck into my lovely chairs to take a nap. We use this gate in a high traffic area to keep our four dogs in (or out of) the kitchen/dining area. Three of our dogs weigh between 60 and 100 pounds and love to stand up with their paws up.
