Durability not good, returned

Bought because the reviews were very good (as was the price). I had to install it from a disc, but the drive accidentally opened up during the installation process. I also couldn't copy the *ISO image and then mount it due to the same problem. The copying process is interrupted. Probably just a bad block, but I'll try elsewhere. I want something meatier. A 5.25-inch external if I can find one, as I feel the build quality always suffers for the "street" size.

does not work - CD and DVD drives

The burner I received did not work. All the CDs I put in said they were full or couldn't read them. I tried CD-r and CDrw and both didn't work with new blanks. I am disappointed in this product. I'm not sure if I have the wrong CDs or if the burner is defective. I will buy the next CD from the store to make sure I get the right CDs for the burner. Technology isn't my specialty and I need real people to guide me. I thought I could save money by going online, but it's not for me.

Ideal if you need an external portable CD/DVD drive

The external CD/DVD drive worked as described. It's a little slower compared to the internal CD/DVD drive, but that's to be expected. The cable connects to the drive and is held by the bottom of the drive when the drive is not in use. The cable is about half a meter long, so the drive is close to the USB port. Sometimes when the CD/DVD is in the drive, the drive may vibrate, so keep an eye on it. This is good if you need a portable CD/DVD drive.

Perfect plug and play for laptop

Ordered and returned a different brand external hard drive which required a software download to use. I'm pretty good with computers, but I didn't want to mess with them. I needed one that could be easily plugged in via USB and ready to go right out of the box. All requirements were thus fully met. I've uploaded over a hundred CDs to my iTunes library with it and everything works great. Used probably 15-20 hours with no problems. Great price and highly recommend.

NO COSTS! in external components

Bought one of these and it had a power surge that shut it down completely, it stopped working. I just started a huge project to download all my CDs digitally and wanted to go ahead and thought it was only $24.99. I'll just buy another one and cross my fingers! Well now I bought the second one to replace the first one. does not work, and this time all of a sudden. I've used it, put it in a box, gone on vacation, sent it back, plugged it in, it's not recognized on any computer. I didn't do…
