Great for what I needed which was a portable shovel .

Flimsy but that's what I expected! Great for what I needed which was a portable shovel to dig in loose earth. That's my review.

Pros
  • A little hard to snap and unsnap into place, other than that cool.
Cons
  • Difficult to grip handle when wearing gloves

Good size, weight and sturdy

Good size, weight and sturdy. Not as finished a product as U-dig-it. I have to agree that the locking mechanism is not as secure as the U-dig-it but with simple modifications. It works good enough at a great price.modifications:1. remove handle and spread the sides so they have more outward tension.2. use a round file to enhance the locking grooves.Works much better.

Pros
  • Inexpensive, portable and quality.
Cons
  • The shovel blade is not wide enough to move large amounts of dirt

Perfect for what I need

Perfect for what I need. This small folding trowel is the perfect size to be helpful without getting in the way or weighing you down. Handle snaps in securely without needing to pummel it into place.

Pros
  • Works great, no slippage. Handle clips and and put properly. As described and perfect for camping.
Cons
  • The blade is too small for efficient digging

Bought to replace my spade I take on backpacking trips. I've had several others over the years. but this is a very good design. It folds to make it space efficient and only weighs a few onces. The trips we take are long enough that we carefully look at every ounce, and this little spade works well.

Pros
  • It does the job, but you have to use a decent amount of force to get it to the position to stay open.
Cons
  • The folding mechanism can become loose over time

Save your time and money, do not buy this trowel. There are several foldable trowels available online that look very similar and vary in price; I thought they would all be the same but this one collapses too easily. I wanted to purchase this trowel for an upcoming backingtrip (to dig holes to go to the bathroom) but if it collapses too easily then it defeats the purpose of having a trowel. Do not buy!

Pros
  • It's exactly what I needed! Fits perfectly in my fishing bag. Great quality and fantastic price
Cons
  • Not ideal for digging in areas with a lot of rocks or obstacles

Poor quality on my review.

Product was very low quality, so much that it is essentially non-functional! Was disappointed to learn that is is a "non-returnable" item. What a waste.

Pros
  • Item met my expectations. Lite and sturdy.
Cons
  • The folding mechanism can become stuck, making it difficult to use

Doesn’t stay open when digging in hard dirt

Pretty sharp edges- but that’s a good spade. Not comfortable to use and doesn’t stay open very well when digging in hard dirt.

Pros
  • Received it and seems to be off sturdy quality.
Cons
  • Not ideal for digging holes for larger campsites or fire pits

Works great. Small enough for backpack and backpacking.

Overall works great. You might have a hard time with harder soil, rocky, etc. But works for basics and lightweight for you backpack. Also folds to shrink the size.

Pros
  • Its my pooper scooper. I take it with me to scoop poop. Its the right size...that whats best about it.
Cons
  • Easily gets lost due to its small size

This thing will slice you open!

I get that a shovel needs to be a bit sharp to dig in dirt, but this thing could be used to slice you open if you're not careful! The edges and especially the point are very sharp metal. There is no way this would be good to tote around in a backpack without risk of it slicing a hole in the pack. If you were to hang it off the pack, it would likely get you eventually. I sent it back and will likely just get a plastic one.

Pros
  • To replace my lost #$@% shovel. This item is a requirement for hiking. Constructed very well.
Cons
  • Takes up valuable space in a camping pack

Handle won’t lock open

Seems sturdy enough but won’t stay open. Could probably be filed and made functional but not worth the effort. I’ve used other brands that lock much better for a couple dollars more. They are not all the same…

Pros
  • Just the right size for backpacking or camping. I like to dig roots for teas.
Cons
  • The blade's design can be awkward to use for beginners

Bottom line: these are junk. I doubt you can successfully dig in anything except sand and loose dirt. The steel is very lightweight and flimsy and so is the nylon pouch. The worst thing about this subpar trowel is that the handle clamp will not hold the shovel head open and so the shovel collapses on you while digging. Sending these back for a refund.

Pros
  • Pretty tough to re-fold back into the compact form. Solid construction though.
Cons
  • Limited digging power compared to a full-sized shovel

Lightweight but doesn’t lock open.

Small enough for backpacking but doesn’t stay open. It kept collapsing on my fingers when digging a small hole. That's my feedback!

Pros
  • Good poop shovel for camping
Cons
  • The handle can become slippery when wet or sweaty

Stamped metal, sharp edges

Not for routine use, but for "just-in-case" it's good to have. Plan to use a file to remove the "burr" from stamping the metal, otherwise it's a bit dangerous.

Pros
  • Great compact shovel for camping and hiking. No problems so far, but I have only used it a few times.
Cons
  • Can be pricey compared to other camping tools

Love the case it comes with so it doesnt get .

Took it on a hiking trip for digging cat holes.pro: Compact. Love the case it comes with so it doesnt get your stuff dirty.con. The handle is a little uncomfortable to use. It also has a hard time digging through roots and what not

Pros
  • As advertised
Cons
  • Not suitable for use in wet or muddy soil

This thing is perfect for backpacking - light, durable and practical. The carrying case is a nice touch, too. The handle on mine locks into place with a heavy satisfying *CLICK!* and WILL NOT unlock during heavy and prolonged use. This is what you want in a tool like this. If you need a ligh, compact and rugged trowel for your next backpacking excursion, don't hesitate to add this little gem to your gear.

Pros
  • good for camping trips
Cons
  • The blade is not sharp enough to cut through roots or tougher materials

Lightweight, Works As Intended

It's pretty light, comes with a light sheath with a belt loop, locks into place very well. If anything getting it folded up again is a little difficult when you first start using it but it gets easier with use

Pros
  • Its a sturdy product and folds down to a compact size.
Cons
  • Heavy and bulky for backpacking trips

Tiny tot tool good for me

Ok if you are a smurf this might be OK a large serving spoon would be better ss const is ok but this thing is so small The trowel is not long enough for people who are tall or require a longer reach.

Pros
  • Just what it says it is and for a great price. Nothing else to explain.
Cons
  • The trowel is not long enough for people who are tall or require a longer reach
