No ventilation: welding and soldering

Pros - works well and the nozzles that come with it are definitely useful - easy handling and easy temperature regulation Cons - electronic components are practically not ventilated which is probably why people had problems with it - stand included in the kit works but worries me a bit as it can accidentally be knocked over, the cord can get caught on something and pull etc. Be careful when using it! Turned off it definitely cools down to 100 degrees before turning off completely, but you have…

So far so good

So far so good. Easy to use. Adjusting the temperature and fan speed is easy. If you turn it off, the fan will keep running until the temperature drops to 100°C so you don't damage the heating element. So keep it running, don't turn it off when it cools down, you're a maniac! Oh yes, it's metric.celcius. If this is an issue for you, you should know this. As for me? I'm just dealing with it and thinking about the metric. just learn the damn metric system! It's not that hard water freezes at 0…

So quiet, small and fast! I prefer my "real " air repair station!

I only got it for one night but it's been worth it! I have a "real" desktop air soldering station, but it's so big and noisy and takes so long to warm up and then cool down. that I never use it unless I really don't have any other options. I ordered it willing to risk $60 to see if it was any value at all. It turns out it is! It's so quieter than my regular unit that I can't imagine going back. It's small enough that you can keep it on your desk and use it whenever you need to desolder…

Easy to use but takes a long time to melt the solder.

I like that it's easy to use, but I don't like how long it takes the lead to melt. I used it on a mid 2010 MacBook Pro i7 logic board. It took too long to remove the capacitor chip from the motherboard and I'm afraid of damaging the CPU and GPU since they are both next to the capacitor I'm trying to replace. However, I have not attempted to fit a new capacitor as I would likely have to expose the board to heat for an extended period of time before the (new) capacitor would stay in place…

Good device, good equipment. Upgrade - uses power even when off

I am impressed with the quality of this heat gun. The PID control system offers very precise temperature control, it seems. When you turn on the unit, the digital display quickly counts down the exact set point, then stops immediately (see attached video). Either a very good implementation of the PID algorithm, or the program is faking it. Since I can't know, I assume the PID implementation is very good. The device has some other nice features - automatic cooling (when you turn off the switch…

Bought for resin work

LAST UPDATE 5/7/19: Maxwell Manufacturing sent me another heat gun to use and now I have it. On several resin projects. I changed my rating back to 4 stars and here are my results: Going from a C temperature to a F temperature was very easy. The heater turned on and was easy to regulate. However, the fan is so weak, even on the highest setting, that it didn't even move the resin, which wasn't good for me because I needed it to create ocean waves in the resin, and part of it makes this white…
