It's basically a pair of N-channel MOSFET breakout boards

Runs entirely at 3.3V, which is fantastic. The silkscreen on the plaque is somewhat misleading. I eventually reverse engineered this board and created a Github page to document and share my research: github/technerdchris/boards/tree/master/D4184. When connecting this board, treat Vin and GND as a MOSFET source connection only. . Vin+ and Vout+ are only related to each other and their names don't matter. The TRIG/PWM input goes to the gate and the LED. Vout is a drain.

Pros
  • Industrial & Scientific
Cons
  • unreliable

Ideal for Arduino controlled ignition

I use these modules in my starting controllers and they work amazing. Both 3.3V and 5V fire 100%, and unlike raw MOSFETs, the output current is not linear with the input voltage, the trigger voltage simply opens the current flow fully. Easily handles the 15A needed to ignite and doesn't even get too hot. The only minor complaint I could think of is the lack of a terminal block for the input wires, but I can see where direct soldering would make more sense in most cases.

Pros
  • Engine Speed Controller
Cons
  • Without Car

Good product for the right use

This is a great low cost N-channel MOSFET breakout board. It's not much more than that. The board contains a pair of MOSFETs connected in parallel, but no load-balancing resistors, flyback diodes, or any input isolation. The input saturates from 3V to 10V, the lower the resistance, the higher the trigger input voltage. With high Vin and low turn-off voltage, the MOSFET may need cooling, e.g. B. by heat sinks glued to DRAM chips. The maximum input voltage of the D4184 MOSFET is 40V and theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Controls and Indicators
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
