I purchased these thinking it would be a box full of self soldering connectors. I was surprised to find out after receiving it that it is mostly standard shrink butt connectors with a small amount of the self solder type. My fault for not reading description close enough though.

35 years of solder and wiring knowledge and unable to get a single solder butt connector to work from this kit. Even with my programmable top end heat gun, every temp setting from 450F - 850F would ALWAYS melt the plastic before the solder flows.The crimp connectors in the kit are fantastic. The supposed self-soldering ones are absolute FAIL with $250 heat gun, $25 Top Flite shrink gun and a variety of other torches and hours of wasted time. not a single solder connector worked for me. Takes a few to get the hang of how much heat it takes to melt the solder and adequately shrink the tube, but they work great. Nice to not have to worry about a poor connection or moisture ingress.

I really like these connectors, they are of good quality. I use many spade connectors, and this is made of a single piece of heat shrinkable material, which shrinks tightly at the connection end, really protecting the connection. I was very picky when buying

Overall it’s a great back for the price but I do have one concern with it. The solder doesn’t seem to melt very well or actually imbed itself within the wire strands. No this could be a fault on my own with the lack of a hot enough heat source. But I do believe this could also be remedied with some flux being placed on the wires before using the connectors. Received it today, had to resort the box as it was mixed up. From what I have used I can say they are a bit stronger then most splices I have come across. Would I buy it again? Maybe, I don’t use the larger splices a lot but I got this for the install of a new harness in a Jeep it worked for that. I will see how it lasts to off road abuse and water.

It’s self-sealing and waterproof solder joints are good,better than what I bought before, it is perfect to use with HF hot air gun,this is a great product
