I changed this review after a few months. The locking mechanism keeps failing. At night they seem to be locked up, and in the morning the cats play in the yard. I do not recommend. At first I wanted to blame it on user error, but I finally gave in and bought a magnetic cesc cat door with a twist lock. It's MUCH easier to lock up and since I bought it cats are mad at me for being safely locked indoors all night.

Media failed to load. Installing the door was a bit of a hassle because my mom and I didn't really know what we were doing. But we did it and so far I like it. I have 6 cats. And I like to keep my bedroom door closed, but I want to give them the freedom to enter and exit the room as they please. Few of them have mastered it so far. I was concerned it wouldn't be big enough for my 15lb kitten. But it comes through the medium without any problems. I couldn't get the lock feature to work properly.

I have installed three of these cat doors throughout my home and really appreciate the simple design that allows it to be mounted in any material up to 1.75 inches install thick. placed one in a sheet metal screen door (mostly 0" thick), a 1.375" inner door, and a 1.75" outer door. It works great and looks great in all three situations. Please note that the screws provided will only fit a 1.375" thick door (most interior doors).
