🖨️ Optimized HP LaserJet 550-sheet Feeder Tray (CF404A) Review

I bought a printer for work - I print a lot every day and use different sizes - legal and letter. This made it easier to switch between the two as I used the optional paper tray for letters (my main part of printing) and the legal paper tray that came with the printer. The only thing I can't stand about the printer (HP M452DN) is the legal tray (whatever tray is used, the legal tray should stick out [I like my color cube much better for this reason, among others])

Added to my newly purchased HP Home Office Laser Inkjet Printer. Installing under the existing paper tray was easy. Quickly turn on the device and it will see the expansion compartment. Probably a little overpriced for what it is, but it looks good and should last.

Works as expected, the tray that comes with the printer is too small for a printer like this. You will run out of paper too often. I decided to buy a larger tray and program the printer to use it by default. When the large compartment is empty, the smaller one takes over, allowing you to refill the main compartment. In between, you'll have enough paper to get medium-sized jobs done without running out of paper, and it's a good size for a small doctor's office.

Print quality is good. I'm running low on ink after using the printer for exactly a month, I was on vacation for a week this month! So a black ink cartridge will print for three weeks! If that's true, I'd have to spend $1,473 a year just for black mascara! This is not a budget printer. The optional sheet feeder lets you load more paper into the printer (so you don't have to refill as often). It takes a whole stack, which means I don't have to figure out where to store half a stack of paper. Setup is ridiculously easy - just set the printer on the sheet feeder and you're done. If there's a downside, it's that the tray costs about a third of the cost of the printer itself, depending on the printer model. You get. When using legal size paper in this tray, the tray will not sit flush with the printer. ABSOLUTE JOKE! The tray pops out of the printer about 3 inches with blank paper, not to mention a large opening for foreign objects to enter and damage the printer! There is no mention of this problem anywhere in the product description. This HP fiasco is our flagship printer in our showroom, each of our customers can witness daily the rocket science used by the once great company.

Installation is simple: lift the printer (requires 2 people) and slide the tray underneath. Place the printer on the tray so that the slots on the bottom of the printer align with the teeth on the top of the tray and it is ready to use. The printer driver on your computer automatically recognizes the optional tray. No cables, no hassle. Pro tip: Use your printer driver to create presets on your computer so you can set which tray to use by default and easily select a different tray if needed…

Doesn't work when using wireless devices like iPhone/iPad or even with Samsung or other devices. You can't even use their app to print from that tray! You can only use this tray when printing from a computer! This tray is useless for those who want to fully print with wireless tablets, phones, etc!
