Hunter 22691 3-Speed Adjustable Fan Controller Review

Some people have not reported any issues with backlash or sparking. I like the knob because it's easy to set the fan to the right speed without looking at it and in the dark. The fan button is easy to distinguish from the light switch, even in the dark.

I installed a Hunter ceiling fan in our master bedroom almost 16 years ago. The 3-speed fan control switch is now only beginning to work properly at different speeds intermittently, so I ordered this replacement switch. It is almost identical to the original switch, except that the hunter's name is now printed in the center of the switch. Installation is easy. If I get out of this transition 16 years, the money will be well spent.

I really wanted my Hunter fan to be quiet. This succeeded. However, it failed to control at low speed. The slowest speed produced by this controller is almost the average speed of my previous controller. I can't turn on the fan in my bedroom at night because of the strong wind generated by this "low" speed. To compensate for this, I had to change the direction of the fan (as you might do if you work in the winter). I gave this product 2 stars as it is quiet but I will be replacing it.

Check your electricity needs! Don't blame the management system! I needed this for a custom exhaust setup and the low speed was really too low and underpowered for sustained/long term performance. Even variable-speed motors should not be operated at less than 40% power for long periods of time. So for my application it was a two stage controller; Maximum and average, and the slow speed is too low for the motor. Also check that the maximum power is suitable for the fan you are using, otherwise…

This was just the Hunter speed control I needed to be able to control the Hunter ceiling fan from the wall and in a way that made no noise! Works perfectly. The fan is ultra quiet. I'm happy with that. A word of caution: there are several different Hunter fan control boxes (with different model numbers) available online, so do a little research to ensure you pick the right one for your Hunter ceiling fan model and era! Not all are interchangeable and work with some Hunter fans but not so well…

This speed controller is easy to install and use. To install, my electrician simply replaced the fan switch with a panel on the wall and plugged in the wires in the right place. The regulator was placed in place of the normal switch, so a separate plate from the scope of delivery was not required. After installing the controller, I noticed that the fan rotates slowly even at maximum speed. Using a ladder, I pulled the circuit that controls the fan a couple of times. Bingo, the fan spins fast on
