These containers are a good alternative to plastic bags

These containers are a good alternative to plastic bags. Also, the containers don't have the odor typically associated with using other plastic utensils. The only drawback is that the lid does not close. Basically, it just sits on top of the container. So if you grab it by the lid, the bottom (which contains your cheese) will fall off. This is a minor annoyance that can be eliminated by making a habit of not holding the container by the lid.

Pros
  • Store cheese properly to keep it fresher longer
Cons
  • Easily torn

Less than I expected.

I didn't expect that. Other HUTZLER products for this type of storage are made better. It might be good for a pack or two of semi-hard cheese. But I buy TILLAMUK blocks and they are both short and low. What I don't like is the quality of the plastic. If you don't lift it properly, it will break. It should be thicker plastic plus 2 inches longer and 1 inch taller. It should have at least a semi-hard bottom, like a salad holder lid. Don't think I'll use that. Aside from the odd size, it's cheaply

Pros
  • Prevents the cheese from drying out and lets it breathe
Cons
  • Expensive insurance

It really works! I'm so ticklish!

Wow, I followed the directions and put a damp paper towel on the bottom along with the cheese and put in some unwrapped and cut slices of Jarlsberg. She went on holiday and came back two weeks later and she was still fresh and moist and not moldy! Hooray! Well, I don't know if this cheese keeps better (like Colby Jack thinks less mold than cheddar for me. Due to the acidity? salt? fat content? I don't know :-)), but I'm VERY impressed with this simple gadget. I hate food waste and this is veryโ€ฆ

DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM! A COMPLETE WASTE OF YOUR MONEY!

It's not often that I give something I've bought online less than 3 stars. However, this "thing" is worthless. The attached photos show 3 different types of cheese storage that I used at the same time. You will find that the cheese stored in the "cheese container" is moldy, while the cheese stored in the original box and the cheese stored in the plastic bag are perfectly fine. I want my money back but I'm sure the company will say the deadline has passed. Good customer service will result in aโ€ฆ

Effective Mold Protection

For years we've been trying to find a way to keep cheese mold free because we love cheese but don't eat it that quickly and it inevitably gets moldy. Pooh. Especially those big blocks of sharp cheddar cheese. They come back in a month or so and everything is covered in mold so you have to wash it and get the slicer out and cut off all the bad bits and stuff. You're missing out on a lot and it's a dirty business. I got this cheese box on a whim when my wife asked for some kitchen gadgets forโ€ฆ

He keeps the cheese. suitable for container sets

against mold or dehydration. Place a damp paper towel under the raised plate. I think how wet you keep the paper towel will adjust the dryness of the cheese. I used to store one piece of cheese in a plastic container and another in a plastic freezer bag. It always got moldy before I finished the block. I haven't had one either, too long, but so far I'm impressed. Before that, the block was wet and kind of muddy. now it stays like this when i opened it. I intend to experiment with how wet I keep
