Fat cage with panache.

As advertised. This is a great product made from sensible materials. Ignore the complaints about the metal cassette handles. They are smart but practical. If you use a little common sense, they work great. As mentioned in other reviews, I had to flatten the metal ribs in my case to accommodate them. Easy and painless. The Icy Dock snapped into place and the included screws secure it nicely in my decades-old medium tower case. Note: Your case and mileage may vary. I have another full tower case…

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Sufficient hard drive expansion?

I am building a new media server and wanted expandability for the future. I took CL's CoolerMaster Stryker which has 9 5.25" drive bays and knew what to do. I have 6 drives to put this thing in now! I'll eventually run it on unRaid with 3 parity drives and 12 data drives. Not to mention my 4 hard drive bay case which will add 4 more data drives. My only real complaints are the price, the thin material of the hard drive trays and the fact that they don't accommodate the protruding tabs of the…

So glad it's there but you'll probably have to move some metal

I recently bought two of these - and will probably buy a third. One of the ports on the first device was DOA, but Revain did that for me and I only had to shut down the server for a few minutes to replace the swap. The DOA port was worth one star in this rating. I won't dock because I have to bend and cut tabs in the case because the manufacturer didn't make my case. As others have pointed out, the guide tabs in the PC case get in the way. Some folded them back but I just took my trusty Dremel…

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • boring packaging

Works well but is very delicate and difficult to install.

ICYDOCK confidently occupies the market in its niche. Unfortunately, it doesn't have many competitors. While this device performed well for what it was designed for. It was almost impossible to take it out of the case and pull it out. It will certainly not work in every case. Those with inner bulges to friction fit 5.25" rims will not fit. This also applies to the guides for 5.25-inch drives. I used this for a mining rig in an old Antec 300 and had to bend the tabs which wasn't easy as there is

Pros
  • I hold my fists
Cons
  • Communication with the seller

IcyDock 5-in-3 - Where have you been all your life?

What's not to like about this thing. If your system has three 5.25" drive bays (even if that means removing the DVD drive and using an external one) and has 5 available SATA ports on your motherboard, then your tower needs this thing! No more opening up the system to add/remove/replace your drives, it's that simple. Does your board support onboard raids? Well hello what are you waiting for. Want to play around with different operating systems but don't want to play around with partition issues…

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Expensive insurance

Works fine, though. Need some love

I'm a full time photographer and have built several systems of various sizes and cases which are great for expanding the capabilities of your hard drive. It works as advertised. USUALLY. This takes up 5 hard drives easily enough and everything works as it should. Problem-free in their replacement and extraction. However, as many have said. You will most likely have to bend the tiny fins over two slots as there are no grooves on the side of the ice pier for them to slide. ITS SMALL CABLE LAYOUT…

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • I'll post later
