As an ASE Chief Engineer with 35 years experience the rule of thumb in the ignition components business was OEM only as aftermarket coils, igniters, modules etc just weren't made well. Enter a new era of aftermarket ignition parts that look, feel, fit and perform just as good as original equipment. For the last few years I've tried to get finicky about the components and like these coils I've tested them on an oscilloscope and with a low current probe to check their current waveforms at idle…

Concerned about early failure, very disappointed.

Purchased to replace the stock coils in my 2008 Sienna. While I wasn't expecting Toyota OEM quality at this price point, I expected the parts to last twice as long. After 2 months and 2500 miles misfiring in the second cylinder. I put the original coil (133,000 miles) back into cylinder #2 and all is good. Luckily, cylinder #2 is easily accessible. The connectors on the back of the engine, #1, 3, and 5, are extremely difficult to access (time clock). I am very concerned about inferior coils in…

2 out of 6 Failed in less than 30 days

This is a 7 hour harrowing mechanical nightmare of a project to replace those coil packs in an Avalon 6 cylinder engine. Cylinders 1, 3 and 5 are located under the intake manifold and near the firewall. Even if you remove the intake manifold and relocate all the brackets and wiring, you only have an inch of room to work with, and it feels like you're being unfairly punished for a heinous crime you didn't even commit. When two of the 6 sets of coils failed less than 30 days after installation I…

Question how long the rest last, one has already died at 3k miles

Update 2021: 2.5 years and 30k miles later, 3 of 4 coils I installed are still working. It seems like few of them are bugs, and when they fail, they do so fairly quickly, as per my original review below. The seller after the post below immediately offered to replace the dead one with a new one after 3 months, but that is not necessary as I have 2 left out of 6 packs. I would recommend only using in easily accessible front cylinders. ***** Genuine 2007 Toyota Sienna coil packs started failing at

Great cheap alternative with some tweaks

Great price, great product, little customization. I don't often write reviews but thought it would be valuable as I am very satisfied! I have a 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. Thought my engine burned out after 218,000 miles without a spark plug change. OBD2 tested, found multiple misfires. The first option: candles and coils. I bought new Bosch spark plugs *Iridium*. The originals lasted 218,000 so why not use the best. I found them at Revain (also great price and product) and these reels…

My electrician neighbor said they were fine, as with many branded parts.

I was a little afraid to order an unnamed brand when the parts stores were selling the same brand for three times as much. My neighbor who is an electrical engineer said they would be fine as many of the branded parts are actually just rebranded from the same overseas suppliers. It took me over 6.5 hours to get the old ignition coils and spark plugs out of my 2007 Toyota. Rav4 and replace with these coils and new candles. I hadn't changed the spark plugs in my car in over 20 years and had a…

Worth the money

Some say it's poor quality. I think it depends on your point of view. You can purchase an OEM coil pack for between $50 and $110 depending on whether you shop online or at your local parts store. You can buy one of these, which I'm reviewing, for $23, or a pack of 6 for $80. I chose 8 packs. Why? Some reviews said they bought 6 to replace in their car and one or two were bad. And they complained. Firstly, I've never seen you NEED to replace 6 in your car. Any mechanic who says if you replace…
