Great time saver! for electrical boxes, wiring and fittings

Renovation problem solved when we installed a new backsplash that caused gaps in our sockets and switches. This product allowed us to fit new switches and sockets flush with the tile surface. We saved time and money.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Mostly good, but...

Ask for the best packaging.

Good product. Weak outer packaging. The inner box was broken, 2 parts glued and warped. Still usable, but annoying. You should use a good box or better filling. Revain and other companies advertise that the bag is lighter than the box, which saves them shipping, but there's a risk of damage.

Great for renovating an old house

Great for renovating our old mobile home! Installed a 3/4" tongue and groove on the walls and had to extend the old boxes. The local hardware store only had new style box extensions that were too big. They fit well. Can also be trimmed for special cases.

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Fasten Junction Boxes Best Into Junction Boxes

These are good for bridging the gap between junction/receptacle boxes and drywall when the boxes are not properly installed. It also makes it easier to align switches in multiboxes. They are fragile which makes them difficult to install, but once installed they are strong enough to do the job.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Some Difficulties

Ideal for adding decorative trim to an existing wall

Do you dress up bulkheads? Attach a ship leaf to the wall? In any project where you add wall area and thickness, these things work great to properly support wall switches and outlets on the new surface level. Easy to install if you can remove and reinstall the socket.

Pros
  • Heavy Duty
Cons
  • Damaged

Not for old junction boxes

I built an old house from the 60's, so the junction boxes are a bit small and have rounded corners. As a result, they did not fit properly and were ineffective. Since they are tapered I don't see them working with large plugs/switches like dimmers or those that work with home automation if you have two or more groups.

Pros
  • Socket outlets
Cons
  • Big and bulky

WITHOUT SREWING! for sockets

The expansion box is excellent, it is not a problem to install, everything I need is there. Unfortunately, the box extension does NOT come with extended screws, so you will need to find and purchase a special screw before you can use the extensions. Had I known that the screws are not included in the box extension, I would have purchased this item elsewhere; I've used the same box extension many times in the past and they always came with screws. Very frustrating.

Fragile and poorly designed

Made from flimsy flimsy cheap plastic, this product is poorly designed with overly small protrusions and a tuck-in sleeve that overlaps the box. These "socket expanders" only have a chance to work if everything else is pretty much perfect in the switch/socket box. .When the switch/socket is cluttered with too many wires and/or a large dedicated switch. THAT DOES NOT WORK. If the opening around the switch/socket is cut slightly wider and/or higher than the too narrow side of the tabs or the topโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Electrical Boxes, Wiring and Fittings
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
