Use it to turn on the switch.

Works well so far. There were no instructions in the kit and it didn't state that a reverse polarity switch was needed for it to work. After a bit of homework I figured out how it works and then found a schematic for a reverse polarity switch (6 pin with on and off function). I installed this on a Corvette 86, you need a short battery cable to connect the positive battery post to the circuit breaker, then the original battery cable connects to the other large post. The two small pins and…

Didn't get a locking relay.

So I bought this after reading the reviews especially Craig Us. Good rating by the way. But the relay I received is not fixed. This means that the contacts remain open until the coil is supplied with a constant current. Many times I tried to give it an instantaneous impulse to close, and of course it closes the contacts, but after the power was turned off, the contacts opened. My relay is nothing but a normally open relay. So since I needed this to work for my project I disassembled it. I…

May fail with age

I have this cut out in a 2007 Class A van. We found that it turns off randomly. The lights have also been observed to go out when other 12V loads are applied. I called the service department for advice and they said it was impossible to turn it off. A few days later, the entire 12 volt system shut down when under load. After some investigation I found no magnet exit. I ordered a new one and after some distortions in the Narrows I replaced it and everything worked. Disassembled the old one and…

Excellent goods! Season best

Great stuff. I use it in my old Jeep CJ which has a battery drain issue when not running for more than a few days. There are three things I like most about him. First, convenience. Once everything is connected, all you have to do is push the button to connect or disconnect the battery (or a circuit, whichever is connected to the factory starter relay.) Do not open the hood or access panel to flip the lever or remove the battery clamp. Second, it is a good anti-theft device. Unless someone…

I wish it was smaller but it works great

Works as it should. I use it to disconnect the battery on my motorcycle to avoid parasitic discharges. I have an FZ09 with a 2 camera DVR and a few other accessories and I use a small SC1 anti-gravity battery so I have no capacity for parasitic discharges of any kind. I feel a lot better using this momentary latching relay as a battery isolator. instead of permanently excited electromagnetically. I originally went with the latter, but switched to the former because I realized that if the other…

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • A bit torn

The advantage of a latching or monostable solenoid is that it draws ZERO current in either state. When your car is on, there is no 0.2A DC current like a regular magnet. The relay itself is basically the same as any starter solenoid with a locking mechanism on the bottom so you don't have to worry about high current draw including the car's starter. (Unless it's a diesel) I've made a simplified diagram for those who want to hook it up to their car. The toggle switch is double pole, offset from…

Works well but installation.

The installation was difficult. After a long search I finally found the installation instructions. To me. I have an old caravan. They told me it was bad and needed replacing. There were five wires to connect, two of which were shorted. So I needed some good details before I could figure it out so thought I'd share it. First. There is a guide online. You just really have to look. You need a record. Once done, like this device, you have panel to selenoid transitions. Colors may or may not be…
