Significantly more durable and much more affordable than competing offerings and alternative approaches to the same mission. I really need chain wrenches and use them fairly regularly and this one fills a niche and does a great job when I need to change the water filters in my house.

I have used them on several plumbing and irrigation projects. They worked great. Others try to cut corners and use tools in ways they weren't intended. I just buy the right tools for the job. Irwin has always been a quality brand. I pay an extra $5-10 for their products every day.

Great tool. This tool works much better than a strap wrench as it can be tightened like a regular vise. Although it's certainly not as flimsy as a strap wrench. I mainly use this for oil or fuel filters but it has many other uses. Vise Grip also sells extension chains for this tool.

If the bike had a stuck oil filter this thing could have been welded on. Tried 2 different oil filter wrenches and a strap wrench, wouldn't budge. This thing not only blew him up in the cramped space I was working in, it crushed him like butter. A bit pricey for a tool that can only be used once a year, but it will most likely be the last filter wrench I ever need to buy.

Must have in your toolbox. I recommend buying a pair to use in opposition. Honestly, once you have a chain vise, you'll wonder how you ever managed without it. These are by far my favorite instruments. I've just bought a second pair because I packed them in a padded checkered case that was crushed on a trip to a distant international lab.
