Avoid (at least if you have a Mac)

Jotec? Joke Tech would be more appropriate. This is one of those cases where the "you get what you pay for” principle applies. A Hitachi/LG BT20N slim drive is used as the drive, as was often used in laptops – or was when storage media was something special. The drive itself is fine, but the case is made of such thin plastic that sometimes the drive door wouldn't close because the case was flexed inward. And the case controller is hardly compatible, at least on a Mac (OS 11.4), which makes this

It works fine now...

I had to purchase a BluRay license to remove the watermark from the screen when I play a movie. Paid $40 for a license to play Blu-ray discs on a player. This problem does not exist with DVD or CD. Since then, everything has worked flawlessly and the Blu-ray, DVD and CD sound great to me. The quality suits me!

This device works great. Thunderbolt support is handy since I use it with a Mac. Note that it still requires a USB-A connector.

The drive works as it should. Blueray Reader needs help.

The drive met my expectations. This allowed me to read the Blu-ray disc on my Mac. The reading software was almost useless. Luckily, there are free solutions that can help fix this problem.

Very Good External Blu-ray Drive

This is a pretty good external Blu-ray drive. The only complaint I have is that sometimes it gets confused when I close it and keep trying to open it. You have to close it "just right" so that it doesn't reopen after you close it.

General Poor Quality Item

The outer casing is made of poor quality plastic. This means that any pressure on the case will result in the attempt not pressing properly and closing properly. In this case, you may feel a twist before the tray is fully closed, which is actually undesirable. I've also had numerous problems reading DVDs, resulting in having to re-insert the discs 3-5 times before it could be read. I would avoid this product and look for something better.
