Good but not so good for cabinet hardware

These magnetic clasps were fine as they keep my kitchen cabinet doors closed. There were no instructions or suggestions for installation, but I suspect common sense prevails here as each installation can be unique depending on the type of cabinets you have. I deducted two stars mainly because of the discrepancy between the strength of the magnet from latch to latch. Some are too strong making opening the closet door difficult while others felt weak but ended up keeping the door shut. In the end

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

Look elsewhere if you're trying to keep the animal away

I bought these for kitchen cabinets. I have a cat that opens the bottom closet doors every day. I've seen them advertised to "keep them out". However, this is not the case. I have installed them in different ways from different sites and he can still open them very easily. I even pulled everything out of the cabinets to see if the panel was properly attached to the magnet. How it is. I ended up having the brilliant idea of installing maybe 2 of these on the same door. It has hardly improved him

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Unreliable

This magnetic latch works; even full size doors

I bought a house with ball bearing under spring latch system for a set of double doors. The blocks work but are noisy and have a very low voltage setting that you must apply to open or close the doors. A set of pantry doors that is used all the time was driving me insane with violent pulls, pushes and loud latch sounds. I bought a set of these as a sample; they worked great. Those pantry doors were only 18" panel doors so I put a new latch on the 3ft 0 double door and they worked too. The…

It's good to be able to install properly

It holds up well but only if both magnets make contact with the plate. The screws should not interfere, the plate should of course be aligned. But most importantly, the pairing of the two is crucial. My drawer and cabinet are either slightly crooked or just random variations in how the parts rotate slightly when the screws are tightened, which makes the difference between low tension (from just 1 magnet) or strong enough tension when both are in contact. (This is a noticeable difference). Loose

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Exactly what I was looking for

I have replaced the ball catches on a pair of pantry doors and a pair of linen closet doors. Ball locks seem to fail every few months and need adjusting in order for the doors to open. My wife has been following me since we moved to replace them with magnetic clasps 15 years ago. Now that they are in place, pantry doors and linen closet doors open easily. It takes a while to get used to the fact that I can open them without using more force than my wife can muster when they fail. The doors are…

Pros
  • Durable test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
