Great design, slow write speed

It's the perfect USB flash drive in looks, form factor and build quality. The big hole for the key ring makes it even better. But as many say, the recording speed leaves a lot to be desired. If you're moving small files, it's fast enough. Much faster than 2.0 drives. But when you move large files like 3 or 4GB, they start fast and get slower towards the end. I compared writing the same 4GB file to this drive and a SanDisk drive. SandDisc took 1 minute 55 seconds. This Kingston ride took 2…

Reasonable read speed, monstrous write speed.

I might not have expected something like this from a USB 3.0 stick. I didn't expect the write speed to match the read speed. but if it's slower than usb2.0, it's a problem. The writing speed on this disc is not acceptable. Averages from 4MB/s to 8MB/s. In fact, it quickly oscillates between both extremes, as if throttling internally (overheating maybe?). I've tried this on 2 different PCs and a laptop with the same results. The Sandisk Ultra 16GB is shown for comparison. After seeing…

Both USBs no longer work after half a year.

I bought two of these and the first one failed after 2 months as I lost all my data and I was upset but luckily backed up the data to another drive. I figured it was just bad luck because USB drives are finicky at times and I've used them enough times that I just threw away the first one and kept using the second. Recently (about half a year after purchase) the second one stopped working and this time some of my data couldn't be backed up yet so I lost everything. Every time the USB stick is…

Testing the write speed of USB2 version and USB3 version

DTSE9-16GB vs DTSE9-G2-64GB. I've been using DTSE9-16GB USB2 for maybe the last 3 years. You were great. I bought maybe 150 of these and never got a single rejection. I work for a company whose technicians use them daily and we send them to customers for remote computer upgrades. We've dropped these units on concrete, in bags of keys all day, even washed clothes (in an employee's pants pocket, I took them out after hearing a ping in the dryer, although I wouldn't say I was there lay for a long…

Some port and capacity issues

A true Kingston fan returning from the past. I like the design very much. Differs from older 2.0 drives in that it is thinner in the miskey ring hole. I understand why, but since it fits pretty snugly in the USB port, getting it out can be a bit of a hassle (sharp edges). Once I put the ring on him it shouldn't be a problem. The speed is phenomenal as I'm not used to 3.0 drives. I don't need to use it very often, so I haven't put too much thought into testing different products. How much…

Don't waste money!

Bought for "Upgrade" from my own flash drive DTSE9 (USB 2.0) 16GB which I have been using for 4-5 years. When I connect it to a Windows computer, it works fine. However, I connect it to a MAC computer and the entire machine is slow. I've tested this on several MACs in my organization (including personal computers) and it's interfering with the USB bus. Unfortunately I need it to work on both. It's sad because I like the faster copy speed of 3.0, but if it slows down the host OS on the MAC, it's
