Cuts butter just the way I like it but too weak

Bought 2 in November 2017, both broke at the end of December. Cuts butter well the way I like it but too thin. "Slider" keeps breaking down. It needs to be redesigned.

Disappointing product

Cheap plastic. The chamber is too wide for standard sized dipsticks, so the oil doesn't stay right in the chamber. The pressure lever breaks easily if too much force is applied. Also, don't try to cut cold butter straight out of the fridge or the wire will break. The butter should sit for a while to soften a bit before attempting to cut it. I would not recommend this product for the price.

Revan is back in business!

I bought this item in January 2013. It worked very well and was easy to use. It holds the oil well and gets rid of the paper wrapper. I was very happy with it until it broke. It has not been dropped or abused. The small pivot has just broken (see photo). I emailed Revain and they sent me a replacement straight away. I can't believe a kitchen store in a mall would replace such an appliance in six months. For this reason, I will continue to make most consumer purchases through Revain.

Not suitable if you want accurate measurements.

Basically I ordered this so I can shave off a small amount of oil. I find this works best if you let the oil soak in and soften a bit, otherwise the dipstick tends to stick to the bottom and/or the side and not slide out with the pusher. There are graduated markings, but they're not very accurate for measuring a tablespoon of oil. When measuring, I got 1/2 to 3/4 tablespoons. But like I said, I wanted to be able to cut very thin slices to melt on toast or muffins.

  • Heavy Duty Construction

Works great ALWAYS BREAKS

It's perfect except it's made of plastic and ALWAYS breaks. I bought 2016, 2018 and 2 packs in 2020. Too bad those bought in 2020 are already broken and less than a year has passed. It's the same place every time. Exactly where the wire connects to the "cap". I've just reapplied it, but it rarely lasts more than a day. One day I'll figure out how to fix this so I don't have to keep buying. I love using the perfect knob of butter in the pan without damaging my knife! I wish everything was metal.

Incredible Perfection - Storage and Organization

It may seem like an overkill gadget, but it's actually great. If you need a thin stick of butter, this works better than a knife. I bought it because we buy butter from a local dairy and there are no labels at all on the packages so measuring was a guessing game. We've been using it for over a year and have only had a few issues. The issues we had weren't so much with the device as with the oil's interaction with it. For example, very cold oil has difficulty sliding forward. Butter at room…

Great appliance but short lived

This is my favorite kitchen appliance but I'm giving it four stars instead of five because it breaks easily and can't be repaired. It's very easy to use and delivers accurate amounts without any mess or scratching with a knife. However, the wire cutters or the spring on the flap/door can easily break. I was still able to use it after the hinge broke but it's a bit fiddly. If the cable breaks, it is useless. While it annoys me that they break so easily and typically only last about six months, I

That's it! This is the one!

Tried several others. This one breaks easily (mine does NOT) but I'd happily buy a new one every year or so because it's so convenient. Cut, measure, store, WITHOUT GATTY FINGERS. Just slide it back into the fridge door when you're done. The ones I tried were with a red screw end that uses a large screw to force the oil out of the slot - that was great in theory, but too hard, in fact almost impossible to turn, was useless to me. And I tried the orange silicone which stored well but didn't cut…

Get ready for Love/Hate

Just a word of warning. There is a high probability that this contraption will lead to a strong love-hate relationship. We've been using this butter cutter for around 12 years and we can't imagine our culinary lives without it. Unfortunately, this device has a short lifespan, so prepare to replace it every few years. Each time I asked myself if I would be willing to pay $5-10 for something that breaks so easily and the answer was yes. I want them to make one of the more durable materials as I…
