Disappointed: Food strainer

Bought this to strain Greek yogurt. I usually use a fine mesh strainer with a coffee filter and it works well, but I need something that will hold up longer so I don't have to use two strainers for the amount I make each week. It was advertised to hold a gallon so thought I'd give it a try. I laid out a large strainer and filled it with my yogurt. The first challenge is to find a bowl deep enough so that the bottom of the strainer doesn't get caught in the whey as you strain. The next problem…

Doesn't really fit in a gallon of yogurt.

This bag stretches my instant yogurt just fine, but doesn't hold a whole gallon of yogurt at all when the bag is tight. Everything begins to flow from above. I have to wait for half of the serum to drain from the pouch into the strainer before there is enough room in the pouch to close and hang. I usually let my yogurt sit in the fridge for a bit before straining, but I tried straining it right away and it's just a mess. However, the bag is easy to clean. If the bag was just a tad bigger it…

Excellent strainer for colanders and food strainers

I found out about this strainer from someone who had an online recipe for making yoghurt (I can't remember their name off the top of my head). She bought it herself instead of taking the product directly from Kleynhuis so she can give an honest review. She loved it and now that I've bought it, I totally agree with her. I used to strain in batches with the pretty good Dash strainer that came with my yogurt maker. But it was too small and very difficult to clean in nooks and crannies. This…

Making yogurt the first time was easy. Redeems itself.

The strainer works great and my first experience with Greek yogurt was easy. Very easy to clean and feels solid in hand. I will definitely benefit from this a lot. Just make sure you have the following: 1) A large strainer that can use the strainer properly 2) A container wide enough to hold the strainer/sieve that contains all of the whey and deep enough that the whey does not touch the sieve. and dip back into the yoghurt. The strainer pays off—I can make 52.5 ounces of yogurt out of a 2.74…

This is the yogurt strainer you need!

This is an amazing strainer. I've used cheesecloth, paper towels, and kitchen towels to strain homemade yogurt, but they were all annoying in their own way. I hated cleaning kitchen towels! As you can see from the photos my plastic screen was too big to roll the screen over the edge so I used a zip tie. It was just over 1 gallon of yogurt and it fit in a bag. I left it in the fridge for a couple of hours and stuck with the Greek yogurt. I'm also including a photo of the whey so you can see that

Perfect product! at Kitchen Tools & Gadgets

If you're making a gallon of Greek yogurt at a time, this is the bag you need. I've waited weeks to buy it, settling for either an awkwardly shaped nut milk bag or gauze. I've poured my first liter of yogurt since buying it last night and it's been a lot more convenient. The perfect shape to line the occasional colander I already have on hand, which I set in an old Tramontina stainless steel bowl to drain. As mentioned in previous reviews, the whole gallon of yogurt fit in the bag, but I had to
