I like that it starts by itself

1 1/2? (or close to) a gallon tank and this works well for cleaning it without having to empty everything to clean it. I love that it starts automatically, you just have to dip the vacuum part and wiggle it up and down a few times for it to work. The only thing I don't like about it is that for the size/height of the tank I'm using I have to pour extra water into the tank to finish cleaning it because the water level is too low. remove everything quickly. This is not a product defect, it is due

Well suited for a 5 liter aquarium.

Ideal for our 5 gallon tank. I wash my hands before use to avoid getting lotion etc. in the aquarium and after use I wash off any remaining fish water from my hands. To install, I use a black clamp to connect the end of the hose to the used bucket of water at a level below the aquarium on our stand (bucket on a chair). Be sure to unplug the heater before removing water. I leave my betta in the tank and suckle around it slowly to avoid the stress of moving it back and forth. To use, I dip theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Crumpled

Designed for smaller tanks, this gravel cleaner gets the job done at a decent speed. The low flow rate will keep your gravel from crumbling too quickly, but it also means it will take some time to hoover the entire surface. a lot, but shines when used in small tanks with little floor space like the Fluval Chi. Tanks that are wider or longer than they are tall will run slower with this vacuum, but you'll really get the job done. Corners can be tricky as the vacuum ends in a plain tube ratherโ€ฆ

Ideal for small aquariums

We bought this because the one we had was too big for one of our 10 gallon or smaller aquariums (5 of them). It even fits in our 3 gallons and is slow enough that you can get all the dirt off properly. :) I especially like this on our 10 gallons because the snails poop A LOT and I have to take my time to get it all out. I've seen several reviews talking about how hard it is to get started. Please do not suck at the end and do not put fish water in your mouth! People were hospitalized withโ€ฆ

Good gravel cleaner and good price

It took me a while to learn how to use this gravel vacuum. This is described as self-launching, but I wasn't sure which move I should have used. Personally, I got it to work (maybe there's a better way) - move it up and down on the water surface. Once I start it will have a nice stable stream. I have a 10 gallon tank and it doesn't empty too quickly; I have enough time to clear the gravel before too much water runs out of the tank. So far I haven't had any problems picking up gravel. Makes water changes easy and (almost) fun!

I used to clean my 3 gallon bowl with a turkey washcloth but it took forever to sift through all the gravel and remove 25% of the water. I didn't know they made such small gravel suckers but I was so happy to find this! Now it takes me about 15 minutes for a weekly water change. This is the perfect size for 2-5 gallon aquariums. If you have anything over 5 gallons I highly recommend getting a bigger vacuum as the nozzle is very small and it takes a long time to clean. A few tips: Theโ€ฆ
