Leviton 40681 W Connector Decora Insert Review

I needed an extra wall outlet to improve the look of my house (rather than just a hole in the wall with a cord exit). It's hard to find gray ones that match my switches and outlets. A simple connector that does what it's supposed to.

I've never been a fan of these coax adapters and now I've replaced two home switches, sockets, coax and that's all you're offered when you produce screwless front panels. The problem is that the front panel protrudes from the wall, creating a very unprofessional look. Poor product from a leader in this field, especially for the price.

For the purpose they are made for, that's fine. I don't have any other cable sockets like this to compare, but I wish the tabs that the screws go through to attach to the switch box were metal like sockets and switches. It's very easy to over-tighten or over-tighten the screws, and the plastic tabs just let the screw pass through them. I'm remodeling a large house and do all the electrical myself so being able to use a small punch to install the screws is a must to save time, but you really do…

Unlike the keystone socket decora inserts also made by Leviton, this coaxial insert has a raised design to which bezel covers, including the Renu adapter ring, can be attached. You can see them in the product image, above and below the holes you use to attach the insert to the socket with screws. Because they do not flush mount like most other Decora inserts, the Renu adapter ring will not attach properly to it and you will not be able to use the Leviton Renu wall panels with this insert. I used the original coaxial wall plate in the 1968 living room. I recently upgraded my coax cables and decided to upgrade my wall panels as well. I ordered this single F-Coax insert along with a polished brass wall plate.
