Bracket and magnifying glass too heavy for base AND firing pin. For this to work I would need the weight of the brick to hold it in place. I can't find any places to use it without it tipping over. I bought it for my 90 year old mother to do crossword puzzles. I wish I could keep the box...I would return it!

We tried using a clip instead of the base provided. It has a screw that should hold the lamp to the clip, but it's useless because the holes don't line up. This was required for the part if the hardware and clamp were ok. I also noticed that the clip was off-white and the bulb was bright white, perhaps the wrong clip was put in the box.

I should have listened to my mother. You get what you pay for and this product is cheap. Aware of the risk, I actually used this lamp for a week until the attachment point on the base came loose and the adjustment screw broke. I would return this but all return options require the original packaging which I threw away. That was my second mistake, which I could have avoided if I had listened to my father. Keep the packaging, even if it's as cheap as the product.

The lamp is excellent, the magnifying glass has a very good crystal that does not alter the appearance of the product (except the size). Despite what the FAQ says, there is more assembly involved than just "insert the stand into the base and plug it in". HA! The base is heavy and of good quality. The lamp holder also seems to be good. Honestly I have to say this will be a 4.5 star out of 5 lamp. It's great in most aspects. It's very compact. The base is nice and strong. It comes with a stand and a table clamp. I haven't used the clamp yet. The light is very bright and the controller allows you to adjust the brightness levels and even the color of the light.
