🐶 Mendota Leather Hunt Dog Collar - American Made Pet Collar Review

This is an amazing quality collar for such a price! My dog has a habit of slipping off his collars but this one is so strong and sturdy I don't think we'll be needing a new one for very very long! The leather is also of excellent quality. You will not find better quality in this range! Highly recommended!

Over the years of training dogs and horses I have had many leather goods abroad and in the USA. I can't believe how beautiful, strong and high quality things are! Given the high quality leather and solid brass hardware, I feel like I stole them for a low price, I don't know how they do it! Forever thankful!

I bought this Mendota collar for our dog Tilly five years ago. She wore it every day, including dozens of hunting trips in the woods. It took quite a bit including snow, mud, rain and quite a bit of swimming. It hasn't been serviced and still looks great (in a solid, functional sense). So I ordered another one for our 7 month old pup. It looks just like the first one and I expect it will be just as durable and beautiful over time.

As mentioned before this collar is different from the one pictured. I knew that when I bought it and got what I wanted. It has a break with an O-ring in the middle of the collar, which makes it very easy to quickly attach the leash as it is always on your dog's neck. I was looking for a collar with a leash hook on the back, not under the neck where the buckle/hook always ends. My Blue Heeler puppy doesn't like the leash around his neck and when I walk him the leash seems to stay "under his neck" with a regular collar. This collar is very well made and has a ring at the nape of the neck which solved both problems. The leash is usually held at the back of the head (unless playing off the leash) and is easy to catch. I am very happy with this purchase.
