High-Performance Metra 99-6505 Dash Kit for Chry/Dodge/Jeep 1998 and Up Models with Convenient Pocket Feature Review

I wasn't sure if I wanted this style with or without a CD case. Many of the auto shops I called said this one with the pocket wouldn't fit and wasn't as secure as the one without the pocket. I really wanted this one with the bag and ordered it anyway and I'm glad I did. It was very easy to install, a perfect fit and secure.

This part fitted my 2004 Jeep Wrangler with no problems. The only issue I have is that when using the din mount from your head unit, the radio is placed far into the dash mount. For some this is not a problem, but for my taste the head unit is recessed too far into the dashboard. It's nice and secure and there are no CD skipping issues.

The 2004 Jeep Liberty radio adapter is great, easy to install and looks great in the car and the price is very affordable. The first thing to criticize is that the plastic material is very durable, but can break if it is not installed carefully. And secondly, the bag is too small, only 2 disks fit in without the lid. However, I recommend it.

Installation is very simple but you need to be careful. I broke one of the tabs on the inner panel during a test fit. Nothing I can't live with because it fits so snugly that the bezel doesn't fall off, but don't latch it until you're ready not to strain the lugs. Also, the slot for the tray is pretty narrow and won't fit into anything, so it's probably better to use the related bezel model without the tray.

This product does exactly what it's supposed to do. If you are new to installing car stereos (like me) then you need to slow down and read the instructions carefully (imagine reading) to understand these instructions well. I used this product to install a Kenwood KDC-X896 head unit in my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 and it fits perfectly. The main unit is securely attached to the product, and the product fits in my car without modification.

This is a very good dashboard kit, it fits my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee perfectly. The bottom pocket fits a small MP3 player but I wish it was a bit bigger, I made a hole in the back to add an MP3 plug. This unit fits my new stereo and awesome jeep, but the stereo would be too far in the adapter if I didn't modify it to fit better. Very good product could use some small improvements but for the price it's great.

This was one of the easiest dashboard kits I have ever used. I installed this in a friend's 2001 Chrysler Sebring. No intricate studs had to be broken off or any details added on this car. Other cars/trucks may require the other 3 pieces included in the kit but can easily be snapped on if required. I bought this for my father-in-law's 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. I bought him a new head unit for Christmas to replace the factory unit that refused to throw away his ABBA CD. Due to installation issues I have tried all three Metra kits and the Scosche kit which was designed for use with my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Hopefully my review will help others to spend 400% more on installation kits and Metra will actually provide more useful information to help users choose the best kit for them.
