Description of Monroe 58630 Adjust Shock Absorber

REDUCES SAG UNDER LOAD -- Ideal for occasionally hauling or towing varying loads; heavy gauge, calibrated coil spring reduces sag when loaded up to 1,200 lbs. (capacity limited by suspension, tires and transmission; see owner's manual). EXCEPTIONAL HANDLING -- Tuned specifically for each application, full-displaced valving automatically adjusts to road extremes to provide ride consistency. CONSISTENT RIDE -- OE all-weather fluid contains special modifiers to handle extreme temperatures and PTFE-banded piston helps reduce friction between the piston and pressure tube to enhance responsiveness to changing road surfaces. LONGER SERVICE LIFE -- Self-lubricating fluid seal retains gas and reduces excessive friction against the piston rod to help reduce premature wear while heavy-duty nitrocarburized rod delivers long life. IMPROVES PERFORMANCE -- Nitrogen gas-charge maintains tire-to-road contact for improved ride and handling by reducing aeration and shock fade.

Installed in truck, runs so much better every day I have about 800 pounds in the back of my truck and it used to fall every time i hit a bump now it drives perfect and when i take everything out of my truck and its just a truck its not stiff its comfortable amazing i would advise anyone to wear these for any vehicle buy one he owns if it's a truck.

Must come compressed!

I just installed it. Needless to say, installing them would take a quarter of the time if they were delivered compressed. I ended up using 2 jacks, one to raise the body behind the rear hitch and the other to compress the bottom of the shock after I attached the top. I then used screwdrivers and a pry bar to line up the screw holes. Why don't they compress them at all for ease of installation? 3-4 stars because of this problem! As far as other reviews go, I haven't had any issues with the…

Definitely worth your money!

I like it a lot! I bought my 2003 Dodge Dakota 2WD 4 months ago and these shocks are a huge improvement. My truck has climbed and the rear is sagging too much. This raised it about an inch and a half, which leveled my truck. Very stable and I like that the back no longer sags when there are bumps. Very comfortable and when weight is added it maintains its height. Very easy to install. The only problem was that whoever installed the old shocks decided to overtighten them so the brackets bent too

I'm satisfied.: Cushioning

I needed more lift as my Dakota at 500 pounds in the box tended to squat a little. I would have preferred a pneumatic lift for adjustability, but that seems like a good compromise, especially for the price. Installation was easy enough for a do-it-yourselfer on a flat base on the garage floor rather than under an elevator. I have many good jacks and reliable jacks. Don't try to do this with just a scissor jack. If you have a power ratchet or impact wrench it will make the job a lot easier. My…

Know what you are buying.

These shocks were advertised for my 2002 Dodge Dakota SLT 4 Door 2 Wheeler. When they arrived, the dampers were fully extended and the spring was fully extended as well. I have no way of knowing if they were shipped from Monroe without compression straps or not. Since they arrived that way, it took me a while to figure out a way to compress the springs during installation. I made a double strap using two cheap ratchet straps, removed the hook on one end and used the end bar on the ratchet…

Installed a pair on my 2001 Dodge Dakota 4.7L QC 2wd with no problems. I had to move the brake line on the passenger side to keep it from rubbing against the coil spring. When installing, note that you must support the frame and allow the rear axle to hang freely in order to install it. These had to have the frame raised a little higher to line up with the deck mount as the shock absorbers are slightly longer than normal shock absorbers. That being said, installation really isn't a problem, as…
