Pro Plumb Bob - Measuring & Marking Tools

Great tool. We use it in a vehicle centerline application when calibrating advanced driver assistance systems. I highly recommend it.

  • 1 Year Trial
Cons
  • The list will be long.

2 methods of attachment, a lot of rope, heavy bob

I often see people comparing them to lasers. It's much cheaper than a laser and in some cases more useful. This allows you to measure how far something is from the wall compared to something else. For this use and vertical binding, I really like this device. This made it easy to restore the trim to my garage door. 2 installation methods are good. The magnet is pretty strong. Bob is strong and works as advertised.

Works well and is inexpensive

I can't compare it to the Tajima brand as I don't have a Tajima to compare. But the Moonwell solder works well and stabilizes very quickly. The magnet sticks well to metal parts and the pen sticks well to wood. You can adjust the tension of the self-retracting line if you need to replace the bob with a heavier or lighter model; I didn't change the plumb bob myself, but I adjusted the tension to check. As mentioned, I don't have a Tajima to compare it to, but Moonwell appears to offer an $8-$10…

  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Not the best

Great plumb bob

I'm a carpenter in the union and we hang doors all the time and need to make sure they're plumb. When the Tajima bob hit the market, they were all the rage. Moonwell took this design and made it better and cheaper (about $10 cheaper) in my opinion. Mine is in my toolbox with every job. Other carpenters have borrowed it and were also enthusiastic. The bob is incredibly heavy, which makes it very stable for quick measurements, so we can hang the drywall, attach the door, and get on with it. Also,

Actually the bob is the best part, the spool is pretty flimsy

The bob is very easy to stabilize as it has a small pivot at the top that acts as a shock absorber for small bumps. The pin you drive into the wooden nails is fine, but the only mechanical connection is a hot plastic weld. So the first time I pulled it out of the wood, the pin broke off the nail bar. I fixed it with epoxy. The connections on the plastic spool were loose in places like most Chinese products and over time if dirt gets into these things the spool will clog and not work, I also had

  • poorly thought out
