Just what I needed for my 2000 LR Disco II

Immediate help for my heater/defroster. Also, the engine now runs cooler and happier. You will also need to replace the head gaskets as this allows the water to flow freely. Too bad there aren't any microscopic elves here, popping up in the cooling system, fixing leaks and breathing 200-degree coolant. Ease of installation.

Disco inferno with this thermostat!

This thermostat worked, or so I thought. Everything was fine in cool weather, but as soon as the temperature reached 90 degrees, my car started to heat up. I decided to eat up the cost of this thermostat and order the gray OEM version. There really is no other choice. This thermostat only opens from 215! Too hot for a disco!

Didn't work properly causing my disco to overheat

I bought this item hoping to save a few bucks and learned it the hard way. It was supposed to open 180 degrees to help your Land Rover cool down a bit, but this particular thermostat didn't open nearly 200 degrees and in fact my Discovery ran hotter than the 190 degree thermostat I had. . I replaced it with the original LR 180 degree thermostat today and it completely solved my problem. Don't waste your time and risk your engine's health to save a few bucks. Buy the real deal.

Opening too late! - The car is heating up!

I have used this thermostat in the past and it worked as intended keeping the operating temp below 200 most of the time. There must be a problem with their production as it seems a lot of people are complaining about the thermostat not opening at 180. Such was the case with the one I bought and just returned. My finding was 208-210 on an Ultra gauge with the thermostat installed. Now I'm back down to 190-195 averaging and using a gray OEM Land Rover thermostat for warm climates. If you don't…

Functional and durable.

Bought for my old 99 disco. It's well built. At one point I got worried when it fell off the shelf from about 6 feet onto the concrete garage floor. It jumped a few times. I was sure I hacked it, but no. Everything was good. Installed the next day with no problems. As far as I can tell this is a great OEM replacement. I was having cooling issues and wanted to rule out the thermostat. Of course he got stuck. These thermostats don't like sealant. I also upgraded the hose clamps in the process…

A must for all Discovery 2 owners

If you own a Land Rover Discovery 2, 4.0 or 4.6 this thermostat is a must. This will drop your temperature by at least 10 degrees, and with a soft spring, it means you won't get a temperature spike when you stop and walk. Easy installation without modifications. The Motorad version is much more reliable than the first Brit. Since I originally posted this I had one that let me down and also installed 2 on other cars that were faulty. They're much better than a standard thermostat when working…

Good product. 2000's Land Rover Discovery II

This thermostat is great and a great price. This lowered the temperature by about 10-12 degrees across the board. I've had about 205 around town and about 197-199 on the freeway. Hot idle sometimes rose to 212. Now using this thermostat I see temps hovering around 195-197 city, 188-195 highway and idle rarely goes above 201. All of these temps are measured by my ultra sensor. .My only complaint was that I ordered this and there was a large chip/hole on the side of the thermostat. It's plastic…

Fell spend your money elsewhere

Okay, I don't usually like to scold anyone, but as I'm a die-hard explorer and I'm sure there are others looking, you need to know this one Things. Your disco doesn't like heat. This T-Stat does NOT help. This T-Stat replaces the stock ATV, which can cause the engine to run a bit hotter and, as we all know, can cause problems. I believe the standard rover stat is supposed to be 195 degrees, but this one is 180 degrees. The gauge on your dash is basically useless and contains an electronic…

I have not overheated 2001 Disco 2 I have maintained rigorously for the past 10 years which I have not hesitated to drive 600 miles (one way) and back a day in front of this thermostat. Actually, I just got my Rover from Massachusetts to North Carolina about a month ago and then back two days later. Due to the age of the car I decided to replace the working thermostat with a new one. I have used many parts on many cars over the past 20 years to do my own repairs. How wrong I was in choosing…
