You Can Do Better: Trek Water Bottles

I have this 24 oz. A bottle of On the Fly ($11.99) and a 24-ounce bottle of Nalgene. A bottle of On The Go ($6.49) at a time. One of the main reasons I bought both bottles was the claim that they were made in the USA and I was curious to see why one was $5.50 more expensive than the other. Both bottles have 'Made in USA' stamped on the bottom which is great. In fact, both bottle bodies appear to be identical and fully interchangeable, meaning the caps are interchangeable too. "Made in China"…

Pros
  • This Nalgene water bottle is fully sealed, made from virtually indestructible BPA-free Tritan, easy to clean, and is top rack dishwasher safe.
Cons
  • Working Speed

Simply good. Accessories for sports and outdoor activities

I still have no problems with it, more than 6 months have passed. Although after reading some negative reviews I decided to be careful with the cap/cap and just use it as a wide mouth. Actually, I would have preferred the classic wide neck Nalgens anyway, but I've struggled to find them in this particular size. I have several of these wide-necked Nalgens, but I wanted something that would actually hold a little less liquid and fit in the narrow side pocket of my camera bag (I have a WANDRD…

No Leaks and Easy to Clean

I bought 5 of these bottles to track my daily water intake. I've tried other brands but I prefer these On The Fly bottles the most. Thanks to the wire closure, I can toss it in my work bag and not worry about it leaking. The lid already closes tightly, but the latch gives you that extra security that anyone who's ruined a phone or laptop with another water bottle can understand. Unlike camelback bottles, this one has an open mouth that allows you to drink without sucking up water from the…

OTF cap plug is moldy and won't clean

I need to contact Nalgene to replace the OTF cap. The small soft stopper in the leak protection lid has developed mold stains despite regular hand washing and rinsing in the dishwasher with two separate lid parts. In addition to regular washing, I tried removing mold by boiling the soft stopper in water, soaking in vinegar, brushing with a toothbrush and couldn't get the mold stains out/clean the cap stopper - so it ended up just being thrown away. This renders the OTF bottle useless as it will

Opens when dropped.

I love Nalgene bottles. I was excited to try this because of the easy open/close mechanism. However, as someone who carries around a bottle of Nalgen, I can't count the number of times I've accidentally knocked that bottle over and it burst open and spilled water. Sofas, tables, electronics, it even opened up in my pocket once. For me this is simply unacceptable and I will not buy this bottle again. Other than that, I love this design concept, I just think the design needs improvement to make…

Mold and mildew problem is FAKE NEWS

Mold and fungus problem - FAKE NEWS. This is written by people who either don't know how to properly care for their water bottles, or who do but have made an honest mistake. The fact is that anything that has moisture in a closed space with no access to air can go moldy. Mold. How can this be avoided at all? AIR. Air flow normally prevents mold/fungus growth. Our family has been using two of these bottles for 2 years and they have had no problems with mold or mildew. To prevent this, here's…

Pros
