Maximum average temperature drop of 10 degrees. And yet the volume of the CPU fan is drastically reduced, now almost inaudible, compared to the stock cooling, which used to be the loudest of all fans in my case + my adjacent 4 hard drive bay. I'm running this with a 3.2GHz 6-core i7-8700 in a Cooler Master - Elite 130 Mini ITX Tower. This setup is on my desk and I have a projector in the same room to occasionally watch movies (streaming with Plex from the same PC) so my computer needs to be…

Ideal for the intended use

When using this item for the corresponding CPU and reasons (e.g. a non-overclocked CPU with a TDP of less than 65W, designed for low noise, better cooling than cooler OEM , etc.), this thing is perfect. I have no doubt that this thing will keep i3 and maybe i5 super cool without even breaking a sweat. i7 and anything ending in "k" is a different story. I tried using this with i7-7700k (not overclocked). The manufacturer's website clearly states that this thing is for processors with a TDP of…

Good quality, very quiet.

Highly recommended. I bought this for an Intel Pentium G4600 which comes with a pretty noisy and cheap fan. I should know better by now, but tried to get a cheap one first (heatsink and fan under $20). I had to send it back. The Noctua CPU cooler (low profile) is a bit expensive, but for the money you get good quality and very quiet cooling. Installation is a bit cumbersome as it requires access to the back of the motherboard, but once you install it, turn on the PC and hear no sound, you'll be

Much cooler and quieter (i5-7400)

Three years later, a friend's HP 570-p026 (i5-7400) computer had a black and blue screen warning of a failed CPU fan. Being a Noctua fan and having the NH-D15S to cool my i9-9900K, I decided to order this low profile cooler to replace my broken stock fans. As you can see from the attached photos, the NH-L9i is larger and has more fins than a cheap standard fan and heatsink, resulting in more efficient cooling and quieter operation. Its i5-7400 idle temperature is just 25C and the processor runs

  • Well built

Pleased with the order - Disappointed after installation

Built a mini-ITX system in an In-Win Chopin case (which is very suitable for this purpose). I used the stock Intel i5 8400 CPU fan and it was around 34C when idling. I read all the great reviews on the Noctua NH-L9i and when I opened the box I saw the quality and attention to detail. I installed it and got 36/37C at idle. I thought it couldn't be, maybe I didn't install it correctly? After 3 attempts to adjust this with Noctua thermal paste I still get a standby temperature of 36/37°C. Now I…
