This drive makes a lot of noise. If you prefer disc drive noise, vibration, and squeaks when watching DVDs or playing other media, then this option is for you. I didn't find any problems with dual layer DVDs, but there were some problems with the external tracks of some audio CDs. The color of the drive is light gray, not beige as one might think. I've had this DVD drive for a year and a half now and it works most of the time (albeit with an excruciatingly loud hum that sometimes ruins the movie experience), but I found it that it cannot recognize some DVDs. This is without a doubt the easiest hardware I've ever installed. I bought it to replace my existing CD-ROM drive. It was as easy as removing the CD-ROM drive and sliding the rails to the DVD drive. Connect cable and start machine. Here it is. I then downloaded the DVD software and it was just as quick.
