Great for square cranks

You should look at the type of crank you have as there are 3 or 4 different types. I bought 22 and it was the wrong size. I squeezed the tool a bit to get the handle off and that did the trick. Turn the bike over so you can put weight on it while you push out the handlebars. I'm surprised how well he's held up.

The right tool to get the job done right

There are so many google answers where people are trying to figure out how to remove connecting rods without a connecting rod removal tool. At this price, there's little reason to try it without and damage your cranks. I used this tool to remove a set of vintage Sugino cranksets that probably haven't been removed from a bike in 40 years in minutes.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Win Park Tool.

Worked great to take my Octalink cranks off. No problem. Not sure why a user mentioned problems moving the wrench over the cranks as I found the clearance to be adequate in my particular case. I wish I had never seen this as I had previously purchased a Park Tool crank puller for square taper applications and it can handle both square and eight links.

Worked for my Peloton

The suppliers for my Peloton installed my right pedal incorrectly. They put it in the crank at an angle so over time the pedal came out at a weird angle and it was very weird and threading beyond repair. Peloton sent me a replacement connecting rod so I bought it to remove the damaged one and it worked great. I first tried a universal crank puller and it didn't work, but this one was very easy to use.

  • Quality construction

Amazing tool, the best in bike tools and maintenance

Before purchasing this tool I spent hours trying to get the crank off the bike using a pulley puller, a hammer and a block of wood to no avail. I was desperate after my failure, but decided to buy this specialty tool and try again before contacting the bike shop. Surprisingly, this not only worked, but took less than a minute! I'll probably only use this tool a few times in my life, but the satisfaction of getting the job done was worth it.

CWP-7 is a MUCH better choice

Very poor design, welding the handle to the tool was a terrible idea. The crank in the picture is SHIMANO, the distance between the crank and the crank is about 5/16 inch, and it is compressed as it rotates to pull the crank, leaving no space to grab the crank. The welded grip also prevents it from being repositioned for the most effective mechanical advantage. The CWP-7 doesn't have any of the above disadvantages, it can be used with open end wrenches, ring spanners or adjustable wrenches and…

Worked great; no damage to the bike or tools.

After hearing the horror stories from reviews of cheaper crank pullers, I spent a few bucks more and bought the Park Tool version. I was able to remove the crank from my bike to swap out the factory sprocket for an Absolute Black oval ring. I have inspected the threads on the puller and the threads on the crankshaft spindle and they all appear to be intact. super easy. Although I will say that it takes some effort to remove them. Not the instrument's fault; this is a sign of a good fit and…

Goes perfectly with my Peloton

I bought a used Peloton not knowing that the right pedal has a cross thread. After a year of use and a couple of months of really annoying squeaking on the right, the pedal fell off. There is no thread left on the right handle - smooth as a baby's bottom. I called Peloton and figured it would cost a few hundred dollars to have someone fix it. They sold me the handle for $18, emailed me a list of tools and a video on how to replace it myself and told me to call back if I was uncomfortable and…

Powered by Peloton: Bike Tools and Maintenance

My Peloton started making a rattle that got worse. Peloton support told me the cranks needed to be aligned. The problem, however, was clearly that the bottom bracket was loose. The alignment mark on the mount no longer matched and the carriage could be rotated manually. Using the Park Tool BBT-18 and CCP-44C I was able to reinstall the bottom bracket and eliminate the rattle. I ended up having to do it a second time with a thread lock, but now it's no problem. I deducted a star because the…
