I recently bought a Pinnacle PCTV Deluxe because: #1 I wanted to record TV onto my hard drive so I could always record my favorite TV shows and sports. #2 I didn't have PCI expansion slots for a PCI based TV tuner/capture card, but I did have USB 2.0 which PCTV Deluxe is based on. I bought a PCTV Deluxe Tuner with the expectation that it would be a decent upgrade to a PCTV USB2 Tuner that I have had for several years. I was wrong. Not only does it lag terribly in and out of no-capture mode, but most video settings are greyed out. I run a pretty decent machine that can handle almost anything thrown at it, with the exception of Oblivion on a high-end display. I bought this product to watch TV on my PC. I bought the USB version as I am running out of PCI slots on my Dell 8200 running XP. Installation was easy, but the software is quite buggy. Every time I closed the PCTV application, I got a "Windows has encountered an error" popup. Also, I bought a DVD burner and after installing the DVD burner software, my PCTV software would not start. Installation is easy, the device has a very nice and compact design. The PCTV Vision software included in the package needs a lot of improvement; this tends to freeze the system in Windows XP and video freezes very often. On some systems, the remote control becomes unresponsive and the screen goes black even when there is a signal on the cable. I've received quite a few bad products from Pinnacle including compatibility issues and nightmares when editing in Studio 8 and no support for their Express program. I have a P4/ system with 2.4GHz/1GB RAM and half a terabyte of storage on 7200rpm drives. My USB 2.0 card is loaded correctly. Connecting this product is easy, just install the software and connect.
