Plextor used to make the best optical drives on the market, but those days seem to be over. In fact, this drive looks pretty much the same as the crappy LG that came with my Cyberpower desktop, with a slight difference in the texture of the plastic frame and of course the name. I have used Asus DVD burners in the past but they have always failed within a year. Possibly because of cheap internal parts. I switched to this brand hoping I would have better luck and be more reliable in the long run. I've probably burned over 1000 DVD-Rs so far and can count the number of failed burns on one hand. As other reviewers have said. Plextor no longer makes a quality product like it used to. I have always used their products in the past and they seemed to last forever! However, this lasted less than a year. It started acting "weird" just after the return period and became completely unusable a few months ago.
