Quick and easy installation: spare parts

The stock sold out quickly, just what I needed. They lift the gate up quickly, not afraid that the gate will fall on my head.

Pros
  • Free for the lesson
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Custom-fit for HHR 2007

Leg flap with leg, put an Allen key in the slot on the clip, remove, mount a new one (make sure it sits correctly) done! Be careful, much stronger, so be careful when opening the hatch!

  • Various competitors
Cons

Will not fit shocks, struts and suspension

Either I got the wrong part or it doesn't fit the Chevy HHR. Outer cylinder inches too long, hood won't close. Overall length was correct, but since the outer cylinder was an inch too long, it broke open before the hood closed.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Some errors

Do it yourself - save a lot of money!

The shop offered me almost $300 to replace the old worn tailgate pillars. He asked why it was so expensive, he said the cost of replacement parts. I knew they weren't that expensive, so I looked online and bought them for $20; saw youtube for installation procedures. Quick and easy install and I saved $280!

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons

Great replacement for shocks, struts and suspension

Took about 10 minutes to swap them out on my HHR. Fits perfectly. Strong and inexpensive. But a warning! Keep an eye on the tailgate when you open and lift it for the first time. Crouch or you'll get hit if he jumps faster than you're used to. It's good. That means they are strong and working.

Pros
  • This is amazing

Easy to install but doesn't fit Chevy HHR

This product seemed great. I have already replaced the supports for the hoods and tailgates. I installed them and they seemed to work great. Ease of installation. After opening and closing the hatch several times to test, the lid came loose from the pin. Another shortly after. The clamps are not close enough to hold the support arm in place.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Expensive

Better than the original and EASY to install

Wow. It only took 5 minutes to swap out both and all you need is a small screwdriver to slide the clip onto the old ones to remove them. As another person said on here, these lift cylinders are strong and will force the hatch to open quickly, so be careful when opening the hatch. For the money this is a great deal and better than the originals on my car. A note: Be sure to clean and lubricate the ball joints with some grease before installation to ensure smooth and quiet operation.

Pros
  • Everything great!
Cons
  • Not fashionable

Doesn't fit Chevy HHR

I don't usually write reviews. In this case I make an exception. If you have HHR, not only will this product not fit, but it will also damage your vehicle. In the first picture you can see that both posts have the same overall length. The replacement strut has a shorter stem than the original unit and bottomed out when I closed the hood. This broke the ear bracket on the hood (2nd photo). On the 3rd photo you can see the fastening eyelet in the frame. The mount is out of stock so I had to go to

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Not the best

Did not fit spares

May have sent the wrong product but as per one of the other reviews left this product was the correct length when extended but when the hood is closed does not close fully. After removing old and new parts and comparing side by side, the shaft was about 1-2 inches longer than it should have been and could have been damaged if I tried to fully close the hood. Luckily for me there was no damage. NOTE: Although they may only need to be replaced once in the car owner's life, if you receive a poor…

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
