Great castle. Excellent price.

Perfect for our use. We have an old house that doesn't have a lock on the bathroom door. It fits the "old house" look and is also very hard-wearing. Though I had to remove a few links to keep the door from opening into a gap for people to peek through, it was on purpose for us, not to bang on the lock.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • old

I feel safe with this lock

There lives a creepy mean dirty old man on my floor in our building. After he left me a message asking me to let him do just that. Terrible things for me, I wrote a report to the police and bought this lock. As soon as my husband leaves, the chain turns on. This lock makes me feel a lot safer when I'm home alone with a child and I'm thankful I have it.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Reliability

Broke after 3 weeks

The end of the chain that holds the door to the frame broke after 2 weeks. The wind broke it. I had the door and balcony door of my apartment open, and a light gust of wind broke them open. When the wind broke it; Imagine an intruder trying to harm you. It doesn't take a minute. I bought another one from the hardware store. They are used in hotels.

  • Pleasant use

Chain snaps into place very easily

We bought this because we have a 3 year old who loves opening the door and walking around on his own. This prevented him from escaping as he was unable to reach him. As a security measure, however, this is rather useless. Unless Grandma ambushed you, anyone with some strength can break through this chain simply by pushing open the door. After two months of use, I accidentally broke it while leaning against a door. I'm a big guy at 200 pounds, but most of the weight is on my legs, I just lean…

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Large and bulky

Stopped my mom from walking around unsupervised.

Mom is in cognitive decline, she doesn't know where she is. She's been wandering around unsupervised for years, and that gets her into trouble. Once she was even hospitalized. So we tried childproof doorknobs and they didn't stop her, so I put those chains high up in the door where she wouldn't notice them and wouldn't know how to operate them. When she complains that she's trapped and can't get out, I know she's embarking on another unaccompanied odyssey. With a chain I can make sure she's…
