Works well on the desk but not on the monitor. The directivity of the light is good, but it's not bright enough to be your main table lamp. You can follow some written notes as you type, but you wouldn't want to read a book from them. Mounting at a point in the middle looks nice, but is mechanically unsafe. It brightens up my desk so I can now read printed text (instead of constantly searching for a PDF file). Basically, it glows inside the case of my PC or whatever gadget I'm working on. Very good lamp. I bought it used and it came with a gray braided USB-C cable. Not sure if that's the standard it comes with but that's what I had and can't complain.
