The gate itself is fine. HOWEVER our room is 55 inches wide and with all the extensions it's too long for the room and without them all 2 are short. I ordered a 24 inch and hope that fits in our space with the gate. When ordering, remember that these are metal gates and the extensions need to be just the right size to fit the space you want. The underside of our stair measures 50" top and 51" bottom with molding and this gate is a perfect match for wall mounted pressure gates on the wall side only. I also bought an adapter thinking I might need it to mount to the balustrades but the gate pressure is fine adjusted without it. Video is misleading, requires using both hands or very specific one-handed tactics - not easy either - to open. It's good quality and as we're using it to keep 2 Great Danes out of the top area I'm an expert on child gate durability -) Will it survive a full attack? I would only give this product 2 stars alone. The reason it gets an extra star is because another product makes this gate usable. Pros: The lock feature is great. Maybe it will fit different widths (and work in other holes in our house). If installed in a good place, it will be durable. I bought this gate to keep my two small dogs in the back room while I was away. These gates are beautiful. The dividers are so small that heads don't get caught in them. I used to shut the door but they didn't like it when they locked me in. They jumped on the door to be let out and my door started getting scratches from the nails.
