I give it a 3/5 because they mostly leak when flexed.

They're a million times better than paper straws, which typically don't last long enough for one drink, let alone long enough to refill. So far, however, at least 20% of the straws in a box of 50 start leaking immediately when I bend the straw. I like that they generally feel like plastic, but I didn't bend them because I was tired of throwing them away without using them.

Pros
  • Packaging may vary
Cons
  • Electrical outlet required

Flexible part breaks within minutes

I think I purchased this item directly from Whole Foods. I've used about half a dozen straws out of the box, but I run into the same problem every time. The straw works great until you flex the flexible hinge for the first time. At this point, air enters the straw through a gap in the joint, giving you half liquid and half air. This has happened to every straw in the box I've used. While the idea of a compostable straw is great, it's not a durable or healthy product.

Pros
  • Flexible Straws
Cons
  • Available in Black Only

Good straws are favorite straws

I like to use this for coffee or other non-water drinks because I have sensitive teeth and a habit of spilling (so no straw is ok if it's just water). The straw holds up well which I can't say about paper straws and I haven't experienced any broken straws which is an issue with other compostable straws I've used. I can't comment on how well it actually composts because I probably have to dispose of it in a special way, but these straws make me feel less guilty about using straws. Paper straws…

Pros
  • Eco-friendly plant straws; Renewable Sustainable
Cons
  • Some Bugs
