Its worth it! Great for forging and stripping

The sheet metal handle knife pictured is the first knife I ever forged. I found the metal to be easy to heat treat for a beginner. If you plan to store it, be sure to oil the workpiece to prevent rust! It is always a pleasure to work with famous steel. I wish you a lifetime of fun and learning. All the best, Ryan.

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Not annealed buyer beware

This steel rolled the file out of the box, I read the edges can be hard due to plasma cutting so I put it in the press and made a few sections tested. not only the edges were hard. Unless you have a hard anneal I wouldn't use this steel until the manufacturer establishes their annealing process.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • thin

Good strong steel suitable for hand tools

I received this bar a few days ago and made it into a knife using the material removal method. I was concerned that the metal would be difficult to cut with a grinder, but was pleasantly surprised at how easy it is, it worked well, there was no problem with the drill, or my only complaint was how difficult it was to cut the steel to harden but it's probably the blowtorch I used which after a few tries hardened quite well but not as well as I'd like, still good strong steel, definitely recommend

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Out of fashion
