There is a nice rubber bumper on the outside so I bought this case. However, the hard drive is hardly secured inside and can rattle. The tip of the rubber bumper on the outside wins if the combat drive can move inwards. I ended up stuffing styrofoam around the hard drive in the bracket.

I had a 2.5" SSD and wanted to use it without opening the computer to connect power and SATA. The case is quite simple, an aluminum box with two plastic connectors screwed into place at the ends, one of which has a power connector and SATA and the other is just a connector. What do you expect for $10? It doesn't blow your mind in terms of build quality, materials used, etc., and it feels cheap in the hand. But it will work. I like the new silicone case even though it looks like a life raft. Sitting on my desk and used to back up files on an old laptop drive, it does the job I need and does it for less than $10. Can not complain.

Job done. I think I received a defective device. The hard drive does not fit in the case. I tried 3 different 2.5" hard drives and none of them fit completely in the case. There is about a 1/4 inch gap at the top and the screws barely grab enough threads to hold them together. The USB cable was also very finicky. The case arrived quickly and was easy to assemble with my SSD. I really like the bumper as it protects the drive and keeps it stable - it won't slide out of the metal case on a hard surface. It doesn't work through my USB hub, but works great when plugged directly into my Mac. So in my experience you need an open USB port that your computer can directly access. This enclosure is very easy to install. The silicone bumper really protects the hard drive from bumps and knocks without taking up much space in your tablet or laptop bag. My hard drive hardly fits into the housing and gets stuck when inserting or removing it. Once seated, the end cap was screwed flush at one end but with a 1/16 inch gap at the other. I was expecting a better fit with less effort. Perhaps another drive would be a good match for my drive, or another drive might be a better match for this device.
