I've always wanted set 48 since I bought set 24 and I love it! This is a lovely little set with so many great colors! The little touches that caught my eye on the set of 48 - size 5.5 x 7.75 inches - compared to the set of 24 it doesn't look like they will fill the pans. 48 is set to the fullest. by that I mean that 48 cups still have room to fill, while 24 cups have each of the colors filled to the top. that's why I gave 4 stars. I paint one picture a day so expect to go through a lot of watercolors. I didn't want to use my white nights and sennelliers for everyday painting so I settled on a set of 48. They are wonderful - so attractive and the packaging and bright colors. The only thing they're not very good for is wet washing. The paint tends to be grainy. So I wash the background with White Nights watercolors and then paint over the details with that and some metallic from my Gumby paints. It works well and these…

I ordered a set of 48 colors and the amount of color in each hole (jar, mug, etc.) didn't seem like enough. I went back to the reviews and saw that it wasn't just me. Kits from older reviews have MUCH more color than more modern kits. Revain sent a replacement and it's exactly the same. I suspect the company may have reduced the amount of paint in these kits. This incredible 48 color Sakura Koi watercolor set. I have the WInsor Newton set and the Van Gogh set and the Sakura Koi colors are more intense and seem to get wet and usable quicker. The colors are beautiful and I love the handy palette that can be attached to fold to the side or fold in to close in a case. It's a handy size for drawing when you're on the go. The 36 and 48 color sets fit 5 x 7 cards, not 4 x 6 cards / card top. So keep in mind that you get more colors for a significant increase in height and weight. feels like twice as much, while a 30 color set simply has more colors. I like the thumb ring at the bottom.
