I bought this unit for all of its specs, hoping it would be a good replacement for my 20 year old Schumacher charger with the added benefit of being able to start the car. DSR118- First unit I got when I connected the clamps to the battery it sparked and when I turned on the unit it said to connect the clamps if they were connected. The battery was fine, I put it in to save the battery for the winter. I was about to order the same model until I decided there are manual chargers and automatic chargers - each has its own purpose and each has its drawbacks. The loading machine cannot detect a fully discharged battery and would therefore indicate that the battery is exhausted.
