Suitable for small to medium sized blades

This stone and its accessories (rubber frame to hold the stone, flat grinding block) are of quite good quality. The 3000 side will remove very small nicks on kitchen knife blades if you're patient, while the 8000 side will polish the edge to a significant sharpness. I still have a larger 1000 grit stone to remove more noticeable jags and reshape the edge in preparation for the 3000 stone. The quality of the 3000 stone isn't quite there; as it contains small solid inclusions. These inclusions…

Good value hand tool

Every time I tell my friends I bought a sharpening stone, they ask me if it's expensive. I bought it for less than $40 so it's already a great value. I really like the base that comes with it. Very strong, very confident. It doesn't move. I still use a towel underneath to help with the water. I'm new to sharpening so I'm still trying to figure out my angles and everything but I've found this stone to be very forgiving. It's grainy enough that you can quickly correct your mistakes on the go. The

Get a king stone, DO NOT buy this stone 3000/8000

. 8000 is better not to buy. Don't get me wrong, this will sharpen your knives. But there are 2 problems. The 3000 side is too soft, it became U-shaped after sharpening 2 knives. a lot of pressure on it so i asked her if that is true since i use the same method to sharpen my knives why doesn't that happen with the other side (#8000) and the other stone (400/1000)? You don't give me an answer to this question at all. Another problem is that 8000 is actually not that good, I will say the best is…

Great whetstone. 3000/8000 Excellent results. quality product.

, I have nothing to do with sharpening our "good" kitchen knives with my old, oily Arkansas stone. Based on the positive reviews I chose a Sharp Pebble 400/1000 stone, a 3000/8000 stone and a Gladius leather strap. It was a great decision. To test the Sharp Pebble I decided to sharpen a collection of various DULL Cutco knives and Spanish Henckel knives. I followed the instructions for soaking and preparing stones and slingshots, then proceeded to sharpen 10 dull kitchen knives. It is important…

Great value for money, the rubber base is comfortable!

I really appreciate that the kit comes with a rubber base! I'm opening my own carpentry shop after graduating from woodworking school and it's important to have whetstones as a first step. These stones are not of the highest quality but are of great value - reasonably high quality at a good price. In addition to this 3000/8000 brick, I have a 250/1000 brick from Lee Valley. I've used it to sharpen all the smooth knives in the house and will soon be moving on to chisels and plane blades after…

Reasonable quality and works well enough

I've been making knives occasionally for a long time and I'm proud of my cut. I use a 1200 grit diamond on the "sharpener" and a very hard diamond impregnated strip of rawhide that is glued to the wood for the final finish and sharpness. It works great for years and I usually only have to make 5-10 strokes on the rawhide to restore full sharpness. If my method is accurate and simple, why try anything else? Because I wanted to try the 8000 grit water stone and see what it was all about. So I…
