My dog has come a long way

We have a two year old goldendoodle, FLOYD, who has been wild and a little quick. A true alpha male, he would jump on us and grab our hands (with his mouth) whenever he wanted attention. Sometimes he would just growl at us and keep pouncing and biting. My hands are still scarred from this behavior. He also barked angrily in the street. As it got bigger, we decided we needed a way to control it, and none of the suggested changes worked. We finally settled on this Sportdog distance trainer and it

Definitely works. beautiful.

Excellent product. We have a boykin spaniel. He never stopped managing his property (5 acres) but started "driving” cars on a dirt road in our area. I don't chase them furiously, just chase them for 100 yards, but it's annoying and I wanted it to stop. The dog is absolutely stubborn. An excellent duck hunter, but a lousy farm dog. So I ordered this SportDog SD-350 trainer and found that there really is hope for the dog. Today I put a collar on him and let him go when people come home. Then I…

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Reliability

I have been using this product for my Australian formula for the past few weeks and it has been life changing. On a hike with my dog and my friend, I talked so much about the benefits of the collar that my friend said I'd better write a review, and here it is. I was very skeptical about the e-collar, but my dog jumps over the fence at the sight of a cat or squirrel. On a hiking trail, he can run/climb a very steep hill to hunt a bird with amazing athleticism. Leashes are hell and I love him off

Good reliable product for my 12 lb dachshund

I LOVE that it has a button that just beeps because it knows that when I press it it means it's too far walked and started walking backwards. I have a little dachshund and we have been working on her barking. I don't need a collar because I think it's okay to bark sometimes, but using the quiet command means this is a situation where barking isn't good. He's getting better but sometimes not, I don't listen and then I just give him a little electric shock to let him know. It has great battery…

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No power

I have purchased and used 3-4 shock collars for my dog, each had its drawbacks. I bought the SportDOG trainer thinking it would solve all the problems I had with other collars. Unfortunately, it has one major downside! PROS: * I really like the dial for adjusting the beat level. One of the disadvantages of other collars is that it is not possible to easily/quickly adjust the intensity when the shock strength changes. With this collar you can go from "3" to "8" very quickly.* The second button…

This unit works!: Collars, Harnesses & Leashes

If you are purchasing this or any other training collar, be prepared to go through a familiarization period first to get your dog used to wearing the collar . . This includes several days of obedience training so your dog knows how to respond to your commands BEFORE you put the collar on. The instructions say you should put the collar on the animal and set the shock level to 1 (lowest) and first see if it responds to the beep, then the shock will start at the lowest level and increase until you

Great collar for active dogs!

This is great for my Wirehaired Pointer mix. He can go off leash or leash but if he spots a bird or rabbit to hunt or a child playing ten feet away I don't have to worry about chasing after him. The range is impressive - 350 meters! The remote control has a dedicated button to sound an audible alarm (alert), a button to deliver a short shock, and a third button to deliver a 9-second sustained shock. There is also a dial to increase and decrease the intensity of the hit. I usually leave it at 2…

All-round positive effect

I kept thinking about putting a shock collar on my dog, even though he was extremely cheeky and stubborn. Once when he was walking and wrestling with him, the guy was walking his two off-leash dogs across the street. They were surprisingly obedient, sitting perfectly still at his feet, and I did my best not to be dragged across the road by mine. I asked him his secret and he kept telling me Sportdog. Stressing the importance of following the manual that comes with all collars, he mentioned that

How I love you, let me count the ways!

I bought this after buying a cheap dog training collar from China that once worked. I read and read reviews about collars and decided on it. I was skeptical. We have a one year old golden retriever who is exceptionally energetic. Although I was looking forward to him joining our family. Since he was 2 months old, my biggest regret is my decision to have him. Mind you I haven't had a dog since I was in my late teens and now I'm in my 40's with three kids so I've forgotten a lot and completely…
