🔋 Enhanced Performance Oil Pressure Sender by Standard Motor Products - SMPPS288 Review

The transmission unit on my 2001 Ford Ranger 3.0 has failed. Ordered as a replacement. Worked fine once I installed it which was quite painful due to its position between the passenger side cylinder head and the firewall.

On a 2000 F-150 the oil pressure light was on and the gauge was all the way down. A little concerned that the motor might be junk I tried this sensor. To my surprise, this solved the problem and the truck had no more gauges on the dashboard. Run like a champ!

So far so good. I bought another brand at my local auto parts store and after about a month of use it still showed no oil pressure at idle. When I installed this I found that oil was leaking through the old one. I'm happy with it so far.

Worked well for about a mile as expected. Then my sensor started jumping again. Either I have another underlying problem, or this one was just broken. I'll spend more, buy a reputable brand and see if it works because all the connections are fine and ok.

This restored the factory oil pressure gauge function on my 1999 Ford Ranger dashboard. The arrow now shows positive oil pressure. Prior to the installation of this gauge switch, the gauge needle would periodically jump and/or fall as if reading zero oil pressure. This transmitter switch fixed the problem.

This item arrived defective. The initial thread was bent and assembly was not possible. I immediately had to run to the nearest NAPA store and buy twice as much and it was a perfect fit. I sent the product back and sent a message with a picture saying everything was fine. BS!. Even their photo they attached shows that the starting threads are bent. The refund was less than half of what I paid for the part. DO NOT RECOMMEND, this is a cheap alternative to crap. Never again.
